  1. Hey, remember when we signed Lilly and Marquis? Good times. Tradable. You telling me if Zambrano, Prior, and Hill are locked up and pitching like they can. And 2 great prospects are ready to pitch in the majors, that JH seriously couldn't trade a couple of pitchers? Call me a pessimist but I don't think JH will be the one calling the shots by then. I'm sure every fan that predicts their team's rotation down the line has their team trading the crap pitchers that will be under control and signing the good ones that currently arent signed through then.
  2. What does PECOTA project for Theriot?
  3. I believe Michaels just signed with them, would be suprised to see him involved in any trade.... They traded for Michaels last year, and he didn't do what they wanted, so he's probably pretty far down the list. Yeah, they wanted him to hit and knock in runs, which he didn't do. He's a nice platoon player against lefties, nothing more. He got mad pimpage here while he was in Philly (including me), and while he was never a full time player his OPS vs righties was passable before last year. It may be risky to use him as a full time player, but he definitely would be a big upgrade as a platoon parter/4th OF.
  4. The Yanks obviously were looking for defense and have that luxury with the rest of their offense. I think Cincy is pretty happy with the 800 plus OPS they were getting out of Hatteberg last year, thats why they signed him to the extention midseason. I think Kansas City is pretty happy with Ryan Shealy after they stole him from Colorado and he nearly put up an 800 OPS. The worst OPS he put up in the minors was 910. Baltimore...well I think the fact that Baltimore didn't sign him is a ringing endorsement of how good he is. If you are going to make claims about other teams who should have signed him, you should actually know the situation of the other teams.
  5. I thought it was worth repeating. Besides 29 GMs can't be wrong. I think Wilson is a good player, but let's not overrate him. There is a reason why he was still available in January. Maybe it was a personally choice, maybe it professional, nonetheless, I don't think his value is as high as some may think. Every GM was wrong 61 times in the 1988 draft for Piazza Nearly every AL GM passed up on Big Papi when he was waived
  6. I believe Michaels just signed with them, would be suprised to see him involved in any trade.... They traded for Michaels last year, and he didn't do what they wanted, so he's probably pretty far down the list. Weren't their options to sign him, release him, or go to arbi with him? They sorta had to sign him. If they really liked him they wouldn't have signed Delucci and Nixon especially with Blake, Garko, Choo, Gutierrez, Crowe and God only knows who else they have coming up that I don't know about.
  7. I was going to say that while the OPS is nice, I'm not very high on SB guys, and then I saw his 90% success rate last year and his 80% success rate for his career. I'd love it if Hendry made a move for him. Although as a leadoff hitter, his OBP leaves much to be desired.
  8. With the Nixon signing the Indians now have about 14 outfielders and 1B/DH options. We should taget one of their surplus for a platoon parter for Jones. Michaels would be perfect in the role and probably wouldn't cost much. And when Pie comes up he could slide to 4th OF. If we wanted to give up more we might be able to pry Frankie Gutierrez. Both do quite well against lefties. Thoughts?
  9. Hey, remember when we signed Lilly and Marquis? Good times.
  10. Wow, that doesnt sound like Eyre... I know, it honestly doesn't. Who the heck is that? (I wish I could see video cause it doesn't sound like him one bit). Ohh, I didn't mean like that...I just meant Eyre and working out.
  11. ...and Pie with almost every minor league team he was on.
  12. Wow, that doesnt sound like Eyre...
  13. they also had him at .248 .295/.439 with 27 hr's for 2006. i think they were a little off. I'd like to see a projection system that wasnt...
  14. Didn't he make 3.5M last year...so this is quite a paycut. I guess right now its his best chance for playing time.
  15. ZiPS has him at 265/324/498... AND, I was at a Chris Thile/Edgar Meyer show this evening at Northwestern. Chris Thile is a very outspoken cubs fan and whenever hes in Chicago always talks about them between songs. Tonight he shook his head and said "Is anyone else worried that we just spent a ton of money on a guy that doesn't walk?" And then sarcasticly he said "But at least he hits a lot of homeruns...thats good for a leadoff hitter, right?" I started clapping!
  16. And Sosa, Ramirez, Borowski and Grudz. Didn't Walker also miss some time? 2004 was a disaster. About 2 months after I started working, our department had a rooftop the game that was the final nail in the coffin of the season. I had 15 labatts, no food, then went to Barleycorn and continued to drink uncontrolably and puked on the line of business leader.
  17. The Braves are pretty high on Scott Thorman, so Wilson sits against righties, but becomes a major threat off the bench. Against Oliver Perez, Tom Glavine, Dontrelle Willis and the many other lefties in the NL, Wilson should see plenty of at bats. Plus, should Thorman not aclimate well, you couldnt have a better back up plan. He may have sucked last year against righties, but he has a 793 OPS vs righties in his career...hardly sucking.
  18. Really? CPatt Walker Sosa Alou Ramirez Lee Barrett Gonzalez CPatt had put up a darn good half season in 2003, Walker was Walker in 2003, Sosa was still a damn good ballplayer, Alou was coming back to life, Ramirez was talented as all get-up, Lee was Lee, Barrett was a question mark, and Gonzalez was coming off a 20 HR season. Going in to 2004 was much more exciting for our offense than going in to 2007. CPatt didn't do much of anything in 04' Lee had yet to become DLee, Gonzalez was a bigger hole in the lineup that Izturis and Sosa was well into his down swing. I take Sorino over CPatt every day. Same with 2007 Lee, Barrett and Ramirez. Walker is comparable to Derosa, but Walker was better offensively...That leaves you with Sosa/Alou v. Murton/Jones. Jones last year was very comprable to Sosa in 04...Alou was better than Murton. I think this year's team should be better offensively than that one was. Rob's point is that going into 2004 we had a better looking lineup than going into 2007.
  19. Top four picks...Adam Dunn, Kent Mercker, Ryan Church, Todd Walker Last four picks...Izturis, Lilly, Marquis, Meche First pick up on the waiver wire...Sammy Sosa
  20. Well then Marquis and Zambrano give us the edge over STL. :)
  21. How does every team in the NL central have an EqA that much higher than league average?!?!?
  22. Church is projected at an underwhelming .265/.347/.465. 812 OPS aint too shabby for a pre arbi CF.
  23. Youre going to have to switch 5 and 7...it'll be nice for that OBP to go to waste hitting infront of Izturis and the pitcher. 343 OBP for Jones, wow. What is Church's projection? ZiPS has him 50 points ahead of Jacque.
  24. Awesome call on Fukudome
  25. Well Hendry did say he wanted a closer clubhouse. Well the Big East might have been 5-0 which isnt bad but the state of Florida went 4-0 and has won 9 national tittles and played 17 times for the spot in the last 25 yrs. Is that a really confusing way of acknowledging cuse's funny gay joke?
