  1. yeah, but my guess certainly wasn't rhiab insulting vance's parental abilities. Yeah, thankfully that derailed the reds44 hating which based on the last thread and the board this week could have been brutal and long. no hate was intended. He said his "source" called him. I just pointed out there was a better source that had reported the trade as completed four hours ago. No hate; just posting the facts. Didn't mean you, Vance. Just thought it could have spiralled out of control when someone posts that they heard from an inside source about a trade that went down and was made public like 5 hours before. Especially with all the crap that reds44 has taken lately. But you've been able to take the brunt of the wrath.
  2. How exactly do you go about replacing Hill? He's a top 20-40 starter in the game under team control for the forseeable future. Wow, that is a bold statement. I think that that this is wildly untrue but I would be happy to listen to you prove it. Hes 45th in VORP

  4. man, this one was doomed from the beginning.
  5. I think if you look at the combination of Izturis and Jones being established starters at the beginning of the year and losing their jobs with Bowen being acquired, sucking, and then being traded, its not unreasonable to believe that the current cubs decision makers would bench Kendall for a rookie.
  6. dont you think the whitesox would just rather have ethier?
  7. It would have to take a decent losing streak to knock AZ out of the race.
  8. Do you have a 47 team leauge?!?!?
  9. Will he join him in the Hooters outfit :-& I just threw up in my mouth a little.
  10. The DRays have 1.5 in 1 million odds...so you're saying theres a chance!!!!
  11. suprised to see lee that high. where did you get that list? Lee? Hell, take a look at Tulo
  12. That is true, but I think it also might have something to do with more playing time overall. And perhaps, after the almost-trade, Lou had a pep talk with him and helped restore his confidence. Nothing like the old "hey, we were going to trade you for nobody and pay half your remaining salary, but those jerks wanted us to pay 2/3rds so we told them to stick it" pep talk to restore confidence. :D
  13. And yes, I plan on keeping Braun, but he'd replace Figgans. So I'd still need to decide on another guy to keep if I trade Holliday. Phillips would be tempting given hes a 2b, but statistically, this current season is an abnormality. Victorino wouldn't be bad either. Pena's numbers actually arent a fluke this year but he wouldnt go in the first 5 rounds of a 12 team draft. And only a few of the 60 keepers are typically starters, even though Bedard, Beckett, and Gallardo could have top 60 status. Although having a semi-iffy 5th keeper really isnt going to hurt me next year and acquiring that pitching should lock me into second place this year.
  14. Depending on which Braun he's talking about. :D Ryan Braun. Er...Ryan Braun on the Brewers, not the Royals.
  15. Not even worth responding to. EDIT: Actually, I'll respond. The player is going to be someone who's not on the 40 man. So, that rules out Duke. Although, the way Duke has pitched this season... It doesnt HAVE to be someone not on the 40 man. I wouldn't have a problem dropping Harvey for Duke. I'm not getting my hopes up though. But if true, Hendry has made up for the Maddux for Izturis trade in spades. Hell it starts to chip away at the Pierre trade.
  16. My favorite Matt Stairs story is that one day early in his career he was so hung over that he just didnt have the energy to get into his normal batting stance with a high bat position. So he dropped his hands really low in his stance and hit a couple homers and from then on he never held his hands high again. P.S. He didn't specify if this was on purpose or that every game since hes been hung over.
  17. Based on ESPN, he's 39 and making $850,000 this year. Batting .282 with 14 HRs and 36 RBIs. OBP = .348, SLG = .544, OPS = .892 Has started 21 games at 1B, 18 games at LF and 9 games at RF I have no clue what Toronto would want for him. Not to mention 1 stolen base. Evidently, some AL team double switched Hellen Keller at C for one inning.
  18. Hmm, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that hes only getting ABs vs righties?
  19. I've sat in left field about a dozen times this year and Soriano has more interaction with the fans than any other player ive seen. My favorite moment was during a cubs sox game when we had one d-bag sox fan in the section (he had "world series champs" printed where the name is supposed to go on his sox jersey). Well everyone was giving him a hard time and I think he yelled something at Soriano and Soriano flicked him off. It was HILARIOUS.
  20. I'm in desperate need of healthy pitching (I have Harden, The Unit, Pedro, Smoltz, Hughes, Burnett, and probably more that I can't remember) who are all awesome when they are healthy, but I've fallen decently behind on IP and need to catch up if I want to compete in Ks and Wins. I'm in a 5x5 (5 keepers) and the first place guy is unreachable, but hes interested in trading for the future. Right now I have an OF (4 positions) glut with Manny, Griffey, Holliday, Victorino, Dye, and Taveras, as well as Baldelli on the DL (like he'll ever be healthy) and decent players on the waiver. He doesn't have the best OF and is looking to acquire a keeper. We are in discussions for a packaged centered around Holliday (with Gordon and possibly Bartlett) for Bedard, Gallardo, and Brandon Phillips/Carlos Guillen. I already have rollins but we have a MIF position. I'm looking to acquire a MIF because I have Kendrick and Kinsler who are soon coming back but who knows how they'll play. Should I pull the trigger and give up a keeper? My keepers from last year were Manny Rollins Berkman Holliday Figgans (who was traded) But I have Braun, Victorino, Beckett, and Carlos Pena who wouldn't be horrible keeper options. And of course any of those guys I may acquire wouldn't be bad options either. Thoughts?
  21. Hes been on fire this season and is providing legit 5 category value at MI. What are others thoughts on him? He might slag a little in the BA department, but is he becoming a Chase Utley light? Also, do you prefer him or Carlos Guillen?
  22. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6472 This article makes me so mad. Has Kahrl actually seen Kendall play? How can she know whether he'll be good or not for the Cubs just by looking at a bunch of numbers? Typical stat monkey article written by someone who still lives in her parent's basement. Nope, evidently cheapseats can't post a non-sarcastic message in this thread :D
  23. I hope he means just for today and after the game we announce we've acquired Dunn.
  24. That doesn't make sense. If they knew the deal would be finished by tonight, they wouldn't be starting Gwynn. Do you think he knows about this? Hard to think he wouldn't find out. I think by tonight they mean after the game.
