  1. Auburn is beating LSU 17-14 with about 5 minutes left.....
  2. Auburn down 7-0 to LSU on a long punt return for a TD....Auburn's QB does not look good thus far, and they may be in trouble.
  3. Bama kicked the field goal with 13 seconds remaining. It looks like they are going to win afterall. Auburn is my team though.....they play LSU tonight.
  4. Wow. Tennessee fumbles through the back of Bama's endzone...touchback. Bama ball with 5 minutes to go.
  5. Bama 3 Tennessee 0 at the end of the third quarter
  6. #5 Bama vs. #17 Tennessee 0-0 at the half
  7. BTW, Bama and Tennessee are still scoreless. Bama has missed a field goal and subsequently didn't convert a 4th down deep in the Vols' territory.
  8. DJ Shockley, Georgia's starting QB and possibly the most valuable player in the SEC, hurt his knee early in the game. He didn't play the remainder of the game and his status for the remainder of the season will largely determine whether Georgia has any hope to run the table this season. I felt that they would most likely lose to either Auburn of Florida anyway, but that will be a certainty if Shockley's injury is serous. Come one Texas Tech...let's tie the game again before halftime!
  9. This week will be very real tests for both Bama and Auburn. I'm beginning to think that Auburn may be the better team, but they just had so many players at skill positions with zero experience that first game against Georgia Tech....that killed their chances at an undefeated season this year. Oh, their starting HB is also out for a few weeks with a strained groin, but believe it or not they still have depth at that position...even after the exodus of Cadillac and Ronnie Brown.
  10. Auburn should be joining the group after beating LSU next week :)
  11. Alabama is going to miss Tyrone Prothro at WR a bit more than I anticipated. Prothro seemed to make the big plays at crucial moments, and no one stepped up this week for Bama although they still came from behind to beat Ole Miss. I'm guessing they are going to lose at least one to either Tennessee, LSU, or Auburn. Auburn won as expected over Arkansas 34-17, but their sophomore QB Brandon Cox threw two first half interceptions that led to Arkansas scores. Cox is the only real question mark for the Tigers, and they will continue to win unless he loses games for them. If Cox will throw the ball away instead of forcing super high risk passes, then Auburn could win the remainder of their games. BTW, watch their right tackle Marcus McNeil (6-9 340) if you have the opportunity. He's dominant on the OL, and I think he'll end up being a top 10 pick in next year's draft. Auburn still has big games against LSU, Georgia, and Alabama.
  12. I bet it's really bad for those that have a small screen.
  13. He's qickly approaching the realm of obesity if he's not already there, Truffle. However, so is John Daly, and I think that hitting a golf ball and pitching are more similar than one might first think. Strong, quick, and flexible hips are what generate power in each of these activities, and both Daly and Colon were blessed with genetics that provided those "quick hips"....that and evidently a propensity to overeat.
  14. I wasn't really referring to the BCS poll. In the AP and Coaches VT is getting closer to Texas each week in amount of votes received. If they both keep winning, VT is eventually going to surpass Texas, especially if they beat Miami. Those polls allow the human thought of schedule strength, quality victories, etc to play a role. As a result it may affect the BCS poll, but not as much as it should. Unfortunately the BCS polls don't use rationality to determine things. If so Auburn would have been in the NC last year, which they deserved. The BCS will be a mess again this year, I think. EDIT: I hope the BCS will be a mess this year. I worse it gets the more likely it is a more suitable solution will come about. I'll be pissed if Texas is this years Auburn. Imagine how pissed I was when Auburn was last year's Auburn. On a positive note, I was able to watch first hand (if u can call it that from the nosebleed section) the last Sugar Bowl played in the Superdome....quite the bittersweet victory
  15. They've had a touch schedule thus far for sure, Slugger_16. I thought they were strong after the Georgia game, but I'm thinking they just don't have enough horses on the offensive or defensive line this year.
  16. I happen to agree that the SEC has been overrated this season thus far. IMO, Alabama and Auburn are going to prove themselves to be the top two teams in the SEC this season...Obviously, only one of them can represent the SEC West at the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Alabama has looked very, very good this season and they have a balanced attack. Auburn started the season looking very shaky against Georgia Tech, but they would handily beat that team at this point of the year. Replacements for Jason Campell, Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Carlos Rogers from last season are now starting to come into their own. Brandon Cox is starting to gain some needed composure in the pocket at QB, Kenny Irons/Brad Lester who combined for 4 running TD's against Spurrier's team yesterday have stepped up at RB, and David Irons (Kenny's brother) has comeback after missing all of last season due to injury to solidify the hole left at CB when first rounder Carlos Rogers graduated. Barring key injuries, Alabama and Auburn may both be top 10 teams.
  17. Derwood, The only glaring mistake with that list that I see is LSU at #4. They actually have played two games since the last poll was released. They lost to Tennessee on Monday and then won yesterday. Georgia, Tennessee, and Bama will be in front of the Tigers, and LSU should be somewhere closer to Florida around #13...each having lost one game now.
  18. Auburn over South Carolina 41-0 with over 5 min left in the 3rd. This has been a good week for both of the SEC teams in this state. Alabama should be in the top 10 after this week, and Auburn will break the top 20 again.
  19. ESPN isn't showing the really bad shots of the Prothro broken leg although they are showing it briefly from one angle. Very ugly.
  20. Auburn just kicked off against South Carolina at home. They stopped SC on the first drive and are about the receive the punt....I don't think Spurrier's team has the depth to beat this Auburn team. Auburn needs better play from their QB Brandon Cox. They've already found their new running back. Kenny Irons has won the competition at that position, and he's quite shifty...although still a downgrade from Cadillac or Ronnie Brown last season.
  21. Excellent question. The injury occurred in the 4th quarter and Bama had pretty much locked the victory by that time. Mike Shula, Bama coach and Don Shula's son, took Brody Croyle out of the game immediately following that injury...I'm sure Shula regrets the decision. Prothro may have been Bama's fastest receiver.
  22. Bama is better than I expected this year, and Brody Croyle is largely responsible for that. Unfortunately, Tyrone Prothro, their second receiver just suffered a very gruesome broken left leg. You may see it on SportCenter tonight unless they choose not to show it out of respect. As soon as the CBS commentator saw the closeup of the play he said "Oh no." I don't think the bones broke the skin, but his ankle snapped and his foot was almost touching his shin. I would think that this could be a career ending injury. Bama has depth at WR...This won't be a huge setback, and I think they may break the top 10 this week.
  23. Tomorrow's game is a night game, too !! Four in a row at Wrigley is a first !! I would hope it's a last too. If possible...wouldn't it be best to schedule these night home games after a night game on the road? traveling at night and then playing a day wrigley game has to be tough, IMO.
  24. So would Guz get moved up to say Daytona or West Tenn with another positive performance tonight? Does he have any chance of pitching with the big club after Sept. 1?
  25. It appears that the Cubs are trying to work him back into having enough stamina to pitch as a starter. Why else would he be pitching multiple innings right now?
