  1. Actually, I think the next stat to look at is SLG.
  2. But average is the larger component of OBP, Goony. If you have two teams with approximately equal OBP, the higher average team will usually score more runs. (I figure I'll save him the time of replying.)
  3. There's no crying in postgame interviews.
  4. I highly doubt that Beltran had anything all to do with the bloop hits or the meatball Marshall threw to Floyd.
  5. Even if Todd had made that play, and it would have been damn close even without the bobble, the rest of the baserunners had nothing to do with him.
  6. plz explain I was referring to the 0-53 thing when the count is 0-2, but looking back at the thread in general discussions, Truffle didn't do the research himself.
  7. You need strong defense up the middle, Vance. Let those crazy upstarts in the American score all the runs they want, meanwhile the Cobs will be defending their way straight to a world series!
  8. I'm pretty sure the Reds are expecting Freel to take over at center field or one of the corners. I don't think there's any way this happens.
  9. Don't ask me, I never said such a thing.
  10. Like, I said, it depends on their situations in the OF and at short. Freel is not much of a dropoff from Kearns, if at all. Since Clayton is starting, short is taking a huge hit, but if they had a better option it wouldn't be nearly so bad.
  11. When the Reds run out Royce Clayton, starting SS on a regular basis it will be a very bad deal for them. I was referring to Brendan Harris with that quote, actually. If Clayton starts, it definitely is a problem for them.
  12. I don't think this is as bad as some people are making it out to be. Lopez looks like he's a pretty good player, but Kearns is having a solid but unspectacular season in what has been a very tumultuous career. In return the Reds got a couple of good, young arms for the pen and an underused and probably underappreciated infielder. Depending on Cinci's options in the OF and at short, this may not be a bad deal for them.
  13. I think Jehrico was talking about keeping Ensberg with the Cobs and then sending the others for ARod. I don't know what it would take to get Ensberg, but considering that he's losing playing time to Huff's craptacular line, perhaps not much. My only concern with Ensberg, now that I think about it, is his extreme home/road splits. He's a lot less useful outside of Minute Maid Park.
  14. Can Ensberg play the OF at all? This might be a good time to try and get him from the Astros.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fungo
  16. I think they belong way more than Faith No More.
  17. Todd's career ISoD, .058, is really nothing special, either. The only very good OBP guy on the roster is Lee, which is hardly enough evidence to justify the claim that Hendry properly values OBP. All you really need to know is the Cobs have been at or near the bottom in ISoD for years.
  18. Oh, don't get me wrong, Ronny's performance against left-handed hitters has been pure crap so far. However, Neifi Perez is not an acceptable solution to that problem.
  19. No, it's not decent, a .299 OBP is pathetic. It's terrible overall, and it's bad even for a shortstop.
  20. I can't believe people still try to use average, homers and RBI as a measure of production.
  21. Neifi is not a good hitter vs lefties. Hell, he's not even a decent hitter against lefties. If Ronny needs a platoon partner, the team would be a lot better off if Hendry went out and found a real one.
  22. This year he's hitting lefties reasonably well. Over the course of his career, he hits them like crap, though. Neifi has a .275/.299/.429 line against lefties in his career. Is that better than Todd or Ronny vs lefties? Perhaps, but I really don't think it's enough to justify the roster space he takes up, and certainly not at the price he's being paid. For comparison, Todd vs lefties in his career: .259/.311/.370
