  1. Good thing Kosuke got a lot of early votes, he looks awful right now
  2. What happened? From the sound of gatewayredbirds, he sucked pretty much off the bat and looked terrible. yea, he struck out Rollings looking then walked the next two batters on 8 straight, that weren't even close to the zone. The announcers are speculating he hurt himself on a pick off move, since it was a motion. fixed
  3. I feel a little sad that you have to buy beer for an occasion. Or maybe I am a little sad for me that I always have some on hand...nope definitely the first feeling. what?!? so, you are saying that i should always have some on hand then? Yes, a quality 6 pack is always nice to have.

  5. i'm not sure how much more the cubs need. when healthy, the lineup is: LF soriano RF fukudome 1B lee 3B ARam C Soto 2B derosa CF edmonds/johnson ss theriot bench: ward johnson/edmonds fontenot blanco cedeno rotation: zambrano harden lilly dempster marquis bullpen: gaudin lieber wuertz marmol wood howry eyre with the possibility that marshall or hill replaces marquis in the rotation, or one of the bullpen arms if someone is on the DL. i don't see the cubs upgrading at SS right now, and CF has been fine with edmonds and johnson - plus possibly pie as a defensive replacement in september. i guess if some good LOOGY guys hit the market i could see hendry dabbling for one, but aside from that, the cubs don't need much. Pretty much my thoughts exactly, but I was curious to see what others thought. I think we are well set up for a very strong run. Wouldn't mind another mid-rotation starter if it means we can dump Marquis on someone either can we just DFA Marquis and use Marshall/Gaudin/Lieber in his spot? You and I? Sure, you have my blessing.

  7. Was there any mention of Hendry pursuing other deals? We sure have plenty of chips left
  8. AH! Its Rothschild's fault. I just knew it couldn't be the beloved wunderkind Hill. How about maybe the previous year and a half were more of an aberration and the league figured him out? One good pitch, one average pitch and he wasn't able to be aggressive anymore.
  9. Not as sharp as he could be...That Lou guy might know what he's talking about after all
  10. My sister worked there for 3 summers as well. The free passes for family were nice, but I don't really remember all that much. (see: Bud House)
  11. I don't even think he'll be at the park today, if I understood the article correctly. Wait, why? What article? Whatever article or post or whatever it was that I saw he was going to be with his wife and kid today and not in the lineup. I find it weird he'll be available to PH. But that would mean that the only people we would have off the bench would be Edmonds, Fontenot, Blanco, and I guess Z Hmm, guess that means we have to put it out of reach early then.
  12. Or Kent Bottenfield magically turning himself into Greg Maddux for one yr, so that the Cards could trade him (with current Card Adam Kennedy for Jim Edmonds. followed by edmonds putting up his top six OPS+ seasons with the cards - all of which came after he was in his early to mid 30s. nobody ever mentions edmonds and PEDs, but it wouldn't surprise me. **raised hand** I do, all the time
  13. Yes. Reed Johnson maybe wouldn't be in baseball if it didn't. Biggio might not have been HoF material...I kid, I kid
  14. I will pay you the sum of Eleventy billion dollars for you to teach me that trick.
  15. How does that projec for the 10th vs. Atl? There is an off day on the 9th. Just curious as I am going to be there. My guess would be Lilly. There is an offday on the 9th, so they could skip him, but obviously there would be no reason to. 29 - Marquis, 30 - Lilly, 31 - Demp, 1 - Gallagher, 2 - Zambrano, 3 - Marquis, 4 - Lilly, 5 - Demp, 6 - Gallagher, 7 - Zambrano, 8 - Marquis, 9 - Off, 10 - Lilly Yeah, thats what I counted too. Thanks

  17. Fixed. Strike year Expos roster was sick. But they didn't have Andre Dwason, Al Oliver, Gary Carter and Tim Raines. True, but they had Pedro, Ken Hill (in his career year), and Fassero (sub 3 ERA) in the rotation, Larry Walker (981 OPS), Alou (989 OPS), Wil Cordero (852 OPS), and Sean Berry (800 OPS), as well as Grissom and Floyd. 7 guys stole more than 10 bases and 6 had more than 10 HRs. And 10 guys with at least 10 dbls. Walker had 44. They were 74-40. Really freakin' good.

  19. Well, his knees didn't really betray him, the astroturf in Montreal betrayed his knees. That old stuff they used to use was just brutal. I have one reconstructed knee to thank for it as well. He did have above average range in his early days, but Kosuke has better, but Hawk's arm was better, so its probably a wash.
  20. Everyone hits righties better than Jim Edmonds. My 2 year old does for sure. Got her playing Whiffle ball already, and she's looking like BHogg's boy.
  21. Thank you Freddy. More one pitch outs please, Pirates.
