  1. I backed Ronny when people said he was soft playing short, but he looked like a 4 year old girl just now. That was pathetic.
  2. Wow, the Zeppelin fans came out in masses for Round 1, huh? :D
  3. I was thinking last night that BBTN or some other show should have a couple analysts with different styles of thinking. Example: have a guy like who points out the benefits of tools and being clutch, and have a guy who talks about saber stuff. Not sure exactly how it would flow, but I think then you'd have easy discussion. It would be very entertaining IMO.
  4. From the first time I heard this rumor I've had a feeling that it's just a bluff. Not sure what it is.
  5. He could be a great platoon player, I'm sure Beane knows that. I'd like to see something like that.
  6. As long is it's not serious I think it's a blessing in disguise.
  7. Are we drafting tonight?
  8. Read the article, sir. The EMail was sent to my site, to Desipio, to View from the Bleachers, to 1060, and to Bleed Cubbie Blue, among others. A strong majority of people who read the EMail thought that the "feel free to boo Dusty" comment was in bad taste. I was not the only one who voiced my opinion on the matter, but for whatever reason, my column was picked up by Deadspin, a second EMail was quickly sent out by ESPN, they soon began to deny the very existence of the EMail, Teddy Greenstein picked it up for the Tribune, and here we are. I just expressed my opinion on the subject and, feeling sorry for Baker, gave someone a heads up. I didn't call up the radio stations, I didn't EMail the news papers. I think the situation speaks for itself, and if you actually took the time to read any of the columns, you would see that I am not trying to set myself up as some "hero." I posted info about it here because it's an interesting topic. If it wasn't interesting, you wouldn't be discussing it still. if it's really nothing and you don't care about it, it's kinda weird that you started a thread about it and linked to your blog. Agreed. It looks like a joke to me, it doesn't say come and boo Dusty. I don't watch the show, but based on what you're saying they probably even have trouble filling the audience. Therefore, they know a lot of Cub fans are unhappy, so in an attempt to put more butts in the seats they add a joke that "you can boo if you want." It didn't say, "come boo Dusty."
  9. I read that there was a proposed Betemit for Linebrink deal, but I think it was the Padres that rejected it. I'll see if I can scrounge up a link.
  10. Rivera, DeJesus, Cuddyer. Take a look at Rivera's career stats in the 2nd half, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  11. Who? And why do the Cubs need to go the cheap route?
  12. I think another reason people like Walker is that he took a discount because he wanted to play here...and because he speaks his mind, even though it's not always a good idea. People like when players go somewhere and it's not because of money.
  13. Patterson had the nice play last year I believe where he dove and threw someone out at 2nd I think...but I have no idea when they threw someone out at the plate. My guess is that it probably was Patterson...but I can't remember anyone gunning anyone down in the last couple years even.
  14. That's unbelievably pathetic.
  15. ESPN says he's gotten 1 hit, a double after being down 0-2. He's also hitting .349 in the 6 spot, as opposed to only .260 when batting 7th, and we all know the crazy lefty/righty splits. Another interesting (but small sample size) stat is his .063 BA (1/16) when being up on the count 3-1.
  16. I was just going to mention that, I wouldn't mind the Cubs taking a chance on a player from overseas, we have the money to give it a shot. Also, if we're looking for a back of the rotation guy (not that we should be looking for a back of the rotation guy), I wouldn't be opposed to Gil Meche.
  17. Who cares? Didn't you hear what Dusty said? They hit some balls extremely hard...they just didn't fall in. Poor Cubs are on pace to be the unluckiest team in the history of baseball.
  18. I was watching ESPN and I saw Brendan Harris...so I started to go back to see who got traded...when I saw Felipe Lopez and Austin Kearns I thought for sure they got Soriano or something. What a horrible trade.
  19. Good point. Unfortunately this is the Cubs. He'll be fine until his next outing. Then his arm from the elbow down, will fall off.
  20. Using Cora as the hitman......genius!!! There needs to be some serious punishment handed out to the White Sox if Z is out for an extended period of time and Cora is responsible. And feel free to bombard ozzie at ozzieguillen13@hotmail.com It was in the Tribune last year I find it hard to believe this would be Cora's fault. I think if he had done it on purpose it would have been a big story by now. As for the e-mail...I hope you joking.
  21. Long skinny bat used to warm up fielders during batting practive http://www.fit-senior.com/acatalog/Watkins_FUNGO_BAT.jpg
  22. Bwahahahahahahahaha Funny, because that's all I saw...unless "give me my horses and I'll win," "we've been without (insert player)," and "my horses are in the stable" aren't excuses somehow.
  23. I saw Bowie in the box score and thought there was no way it was him, but Micah Bowie pitched for the Nationals tonight. Box Score
  24. If I'm the manager I yell at Aramis not because he was too aggressive and made stupid decision(even though that was really dumb), but I yell at him because had he not been loafing like always he probably would have actually been safe.
  25. Duh, managers are only there to help make players better. If a player improves, it's because the manager taught him, if the player doesn't improve it's because he's bad.
