    I see Vargas' name and get re-annoyed about late last season, Cubs win the Thor game, win the DeGrom game (by walk off the next day) and then lose the Vargas game.

    Did MLB limit September rosters or has that not happened yet?

    He will be on the Cubs the same time they call up Russell when the rosters expand Zobrist will likely be called up before then so he's eligible for the playoff roster. He's already eligible for the playoff roster.

    He's also at 55 games on the MLB roster, with off days and games he didn't play in he's probably hit the 60 days on the active roster contract incentive, but not calling him up in September probably saves $100,000 for the 90 days on active roster incentive.

    I was at the game he pitched, he gave up like 3 home runs in one inning and if I remember correctly the Cubs actually came back and won that game I was there too and I can't believe you even have to consider whether you're remembering correctly since it's to this day the most memorable regular-season game of the current era.     I also believe you can still put anybody on your roster through waivers and if claimed you can just let the claiming team have the player and the claiming team takes on the entire salary owed. And those players would still be eligible for postseason rosters (if before September 1)
