One would hope they are able to get it eliminated after '21, but I'm not holding my breath nor would I be surprised if it ends up an actual hard cap.

Based on very little actual research, I feel like a lot of kickers that have stuck around in the league were shaky at first. Cubs 2019 tax bill was $7.6 million based on $220 CBT payroll. Cot's with arb estimates has the 2020 CBT payroll at $210,048,333 ($208 is the tax line)

we're less than 2 weeks from Cubs Convention and 1. The big signings are relievers 1 out of 100 people attending would be able to tell you their names. 2. The majority of people in the Chicago viewing market do not have access to the channel the games will be on. 3. Scared of a couple of million dollars tax 4. They've been trying to trade one of (if not the) best players all winter. should be fun.

Cubs 2019 luxury tax bill officially is $7.6 million. The NBC Sports Chicago article said that was based on $220 payroll, Cot's had them at 239.9. Not sure if MLB's official math is more lenient than Cots' or NBC is just wrong or part of that may be MLB taking out Zobrist's salary for when he was gone and Cots didn't? I can now see the hope to reset this year and not get hit as a 2 time offender, because in 2017 with a similar $224 million dollar payroll, the New York Yankees as 15 TIME offenders paid 15.7 million. Oh the humanity!

It sure sounded like they had an agreement in an agreement a week or two ago. You’d think something is done before Christmas. Yeah, I believe the deal is if he signed before the draft today he would have been eligible to be picked so it should happen pretty soon. -
yes, in reality there's nobody I want in a room with a bag of cash and player to sign more than Theo. The wooing of Lester (including calling his shot on Heyward) is an all time baller move in my opinion. We just need to get him that bag of cash.
