  1. I still haven't given up hope that we could get Castillo from the Marlins fire-sale. That would be an amazing IF. Castillo = =P~ His injury concerns worry me. His OBP and D are sexy though. Oh baby: http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/castilu01.shtml

  3. I don't give a flying hoot how they do it, just win a WS before I croke, please.
  4. You're welcome :D Meat & England, I'm curious why you two think the interest in Bradley means Hendry is confident about Furcal. Is it more related to trading Walker? Yeah, I think Walker's departure implies a Furcal signing. I just can't see Hendry going with a Cedeno/Neifi infield. Walker was rumored to be gone only if Furcal was signed. After the Hendry/Furcal lunch on Sunday, it seems Hendry would have a good idea where Furcal is going. This info from ESPN 1000 could also have been from before the Furcal/Hendry dinner, in which case it was just Hendry keeping his options open. Looks like I had better warm up to this, eh Meat? :D I actually have been giving it some more thought. One of Hendry's primary concerns in the post-Sammy era is acquiring players whose character will reflect well on the team, city, organization, etc. While many do not agree with this being one of Jim's priorities, I think we can all agree that it is one. That said, and assuming that JH has done his homework, I will put my faith in his judgment re Bradley and his character. Again, if one could say with absolute certainty that Bradley's only indiscretion was that he fought with Jeff Kent or threw a soda bottle at an obnoxious fan, I probably wouldn't have this much consternation about him. I just hope - assuming the deal gets done - that JH is right about him.
  5. Agreed. I can live with 3 for 33 or something near that number.
  6. Please no...please no... C'mon, Jim! You can easily beat that deal!
  7. I thought that this thread implied that A Rod or Jeter were CF options for the Cubbies. Damn you.
  8. Randel "I never saw a pitch I didn't like" Simon. Man I loved him. He would swing at anything...and make contact. Porkchop was the man. And based on that sausage incident in Milw., he really could hit anything.
  9. Who would lie about John Mabry? Guys, I was kidding. Hence the multiple winks. In truth, I was just trying to facilitate the multi-facited Hendry joke.
  10. Now the million dollar question: Who are you and why shoudl we believe? And BTW, I just saw Jim Hendry at the gym and he said that Patterson for A-Rod is all but done.
  11. That would be Kizer Solesay, IIRC  Keyser Söze That looks right. Its tough to type when your hand is limp like mine....
  12. As the originator of this thread whose humurous content was unintended, I thank you. And I also truly believe that Ryno rules...and I am Kisar Sose (sp?).
  13. As far as I am concerend he is just as much a victim as his wife. Good for you. Preganant woman vs. muscular professional athlete. I'd say we are in for a Super Bowl XX-like match up. Nice logic. I guess no muscular professional athlete can ever be victimized by someone who is smaller/weaker then them. quote] No, but they are highly unlikely to be physically victimized by a pregnant woman. I will say that those of us who have lived with them understand that anyone - no matter their physical size - can be mentally victimized by a pregnant woman.
  14. "Just let yer' love flow, like a mountain stream..."
  15. =; I finally have an excuse to use this one.
  16. Please be true... Jones wouldn't be a bad fit in St. Louis. They don't need the same type of player the Cubs do. What kind of players do they need then? Bad players? yes :D In seriousness he is not that bad. but if the money is true that would be a bad contract. Very bad. Yeah, he probably isn't that bad. Would you be okay with the Cubs giving him, say, 2 years and 10 mill?
  17. Please be true... Jones wouldn't be a bad fit in St. Louis. They don't need the same type of player the Cubs do. What kind of players do they need then? Bad players? Yeah, i don't get that comment. If a guy's stats stink don't they stink no matter what cap he wears?
  18. I think that I posted this in the rumor thread, but to me, unless we get Pierre and Furcal in addition to Soriano, I don't want him. Having Furcal and Pierre puts Soriano lower in the order (5th or 6th), where I believe he is a better fit. Thus, I am not opposed to him under certain circumstances.

  20. In response to Meat's post above, I deplore this sort of behavior and thus would not have him on my team. Obviously, you all are entitled to your opinions. If it does not bother you, so be it. It will be interesting - if the Cubs do acquire him - to see how I deal with it. As of now, I have some serious reservations and strong objections.
  21. I think someone hit it on the head earlier: Pena's a nice compliment to an OF w/ Murton and Dunn or Abreu. I don't think he's the proven impact guy we need.
  22. Woody: Hey Normy how's the world treating you? Norm: Like a baby treats a diaper.
  23. I am a lawyer, and I practice labor and employment law for a living. Whether you may screen an applicant's criminal background is an issue addrssed by the States. In IL, you may screen for convictions and base hiring/firing decisions on convictions only. That said, if you think Bradley was some victim in all of this you are kidding yourself.
  24. Who cares about "clubhouse chemistry"? If what you are saying is true and he beats or has beat up his wife, then the answer is "no", I would not hire him. Forgive me if I think winning isn't everything.
  25. It sounds like they're quite the disfunctional couple. Probably some blame to go on both sides. Bradley is certainly no angel, but it's possible he isn't as bad as he's been villified to be. I don't know. It is unfair to blame Mr. Bradley for the whole incident. He is an off-the-field risk, but I'd still like to see him in Chicago. His health is my biggest concern, but the on-the-field upside he brings is too big to ignore, especially since he could be had for a used jockstrap right now. If he doesn't work out, just make sure we have a backup plan in CF. Pie wouldn't be too horrible of a failsafe if we acquire a big bat in RF, which is certainly doable given the low cost of Bradley.
