  1. Without looking! Can you name the 2 teams who have been shut-out the least in the NL? Each team has been shut-out twice. & there is also 2 teams who have been shut-out 3 times. Name them. Good luck!

  3. Yes, that was my motivation to starting a thread on Burnitz & is all out play.
  4. Not enough credit has been given to Burnitz & JH on this board. This is turning into a great move by JH & the Cubs. Burnitz hustles & plays as hard as anyone in the game. I wasn't a huge proponent of the Burnitz signing in the off-season, but I wasn't a complete doubter like many people here. Burnitz is proving alot of you wrong. He is un upgrade in RF over Sosa with his strong arm & has far better range than Sosa. Adding some pop from the left side was one of Hendry's goal's in the offseason, including moving the egocentric Sosa & he did both. Props goes out to both! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK JIM & JEROMY!
  5. Yeah. Carlos just happened to have the hottest streak of his career on the biggest stage. He is good, but very overrated, and not nearly worth the contract he got. As for the ASG, the NL outfield should have been Abreu/Jones/Cabrera or Lee. No way does Edmonds belong in the game. In fact I could list 10 outfielder more worthy, based on this year. I have to say Eckstein deserves to be ther more than Izturis, who has gone in the tank after his hot start. I don't have a problem with Edmonds being a reserve, but a starter? C'mon! At least the AL fans got their voting right! Rolen has no business even being on the roster. Both Ensberg & Ramirez should be there. Eckstein as SS,Pujols as DH, Carpenter & Isringhausen as reserve pitchers I have no problem with. All 4 of thses guys have earned these spots.
  6. none of the cardinals starters should be there. the outfield should be abreu in center and Carlos and Miguel on the corners. Felipe Lopez should be at SS. Aram or Morgan Ensberg should be at 3B. What a farce. Are you referring to Carlos Beltran? He has been pretty average this year. If you're keeping guys at their positions, the OF should be Cabrera, Andruw Jones and Abreu; if you're playing guys out of position then put Jason Bay or Abreu in CF. I don't have as much of an issue with Edmonds starting because he has at least been good this year and hasn't been much worse than Andruw Jones. Rolen is not even close to ARam, David Wright or Ensberg (the latter two got left off) and Eckstein is way, way behind Felipe Lopez. Even Bill Hall deserved to make it ahead of Eckstein. Cesar Izturis doesn't belong on the team, either. I'm assuming by Carlos he is talking about the one playing in the far north Chicago suburbs. yes carlos lee should be starting. Carlos Beltran should be a cub. @ 7yrs 119 mil.? no thank you!
  7. That's why Lee is starting with Eckstein. Not all of us are 100% homers, just 2/3 apparently. The funny thing about it is that a ton of Cards fans voted for Lee, Rolen, and Eckstein when voting for Albert @ 1B would be the most defendable of the three positions. Explain why Rolen deserves to start over Ensberg or Ramirez? NM, we all know he doesn't!
  8. Andruw Jones,Miguel Cabrera & Aramis Ramirez should all be starting over Beltran,Edmonds & Rolen & it shouldn't even be close.
  9. I'm not sure about for a season, but H.Aaron leads with 400 career solo shots. How many does D-Lee have this year?
  10. Did you guys e-mail Dusty to have JHJR & Walker bat #1 & #2? Great line-up today by Dusty. Hopefully the Cubs will cash in & CPatt will be permantly moved to utility OF. I rejoice when he's not in the line-up. Offensively, he hurts this team, kind of like Sosa does with the O's.
  11. IIRC, he has started one game since his return & if you have heard Dusty has already mentioned that Neifi is his starting SS. Therefore it shouldn't suprise you all that much that Cedeno isn't starting everyday, which I wouldn't have a problem with.
  12. beat me to it, so i deleted mine. Good to see ARam back in the lineup...i know i feel like everyone else seeing the rest of the lineup though  Any predictions on how many times the #1 & #2 hitters get OB today. I'm going to say 4 times. Neifi 2, Corey 1, PH 1
  13. Here are some of the things I see JD do that makes him shaky in LF: Doesn't judge balls well hit over his head (especially @ Wrigley). However with more experience playing @ the friendley confines I believe he will improve. He moves well from right/left ot left/right for a big man. However, he still needs to improve on the angle he takes to the ball. Again, I think all of these tendancies will improve with more playing time. Right now I would consider him an avg. to below avg. defensive OF in the ML. Just my :twocents:
  14. I have mixed feelings on Jason Dubois. These are just some of my thoughts. Please feel free to give your input & thoughts on what you think of JD now & what you think he will bring the Cubs in the future. Positives: His walks last night were very encouraging. Has prodigous power if picthed down the heart of the plate. Showed he can go to the opposite field if pitched on the outside corners. Hasn't made many if not any baserunning errors, which is encouraging for a rookie. Consistently hits the cut-off man & doesn't try to do too much with his arm. Negatives: Still gets fooled often by off speed stuff, but looks like he's improving. Very shaky defensively in the LF. Patience @ the plate is improving, but still a weakness. I wish Dusty would seperate in the order the best he can Burnitz,Corey & Dubois. Maybe put Barrett in the middle of those 3. Those 3 are bigtime K/free swing hitters. Thoughts???
  15. Bob Brenly "Jason Dubois is country strong"
  16. Sisco left a couple in the zone tonight: .1IP 2 hits 2 ER's 2Hr's What is the official date when he belongs to the Royals? 4 or 5 more of these type outings in a row could we see him back in A ball in the Cubs minor league system?
  17. They'll come around, they are too good not to.
  18. a strong year by both Wood and Prior, and decent HR power 2-5. Your not giving any credit to Dusty for 03'? Sure he gets some credit. He also gets the blame for last years train wreck and this years start. that's a fair assesment.
  19. a strong year by both Wood and Prior, and decent HR power 2-5. Your not giving any credit to Dusty for 03'?
  20. Dusty could have walked Hill in that situation in the 8th and it came back to bite him. Baseball 101 is that you set up the DP in that situation, especially with a right handed hitter on deck. That was a brutal move by Baker. It's Baker's job to put the players in the best position to win and he does not do it. Then how did the Cubs get to the NLCS in 03'?
  21. Wilbon grew up on the southside.
  22. The Astros are probably about average in the league in offense. Carpenter looked sharp last night, but granted he wasn't pitching to the 29 Yankees. Carpenter also finished the season on the DL last year costing him 3-4 starts. he could have been 16-20 game winner. I'm not saying he'll be healthy all year, but i don't forsee much of a drop off. After a career year & a downgraded defensive team behind him, if you don't expect a little drop off, you may be setting yourself up for a little dissapointment.
  23. Carpenter had a career year LY. He could come close to those #'s if he stays healthy, which is a huge ? for him. I just do see him surpassing any of his #'s from LY. Astros -Berkman, -Beltran, -Kent. Nice pitching performance just don't get over excited. The highest the Astros finish in the division is 4th. The Reds & maybe even the Brewers will finish ahead of the 'stros.
  24. Why aren't you a manager or GM if you know what all the right moves are?
