  1. I know he threw the meatball on a 0-2 count, but shouldn't Barrett or mgmt get some of the blame for calling for that pitch?
  2. Only if that 15 game losing streak is the result of Dusty getting the axe.
  3. i used to think this, but i don't think hendry has the balls to do it. i hope i have to eat my words on this one - i really do - but i don't think it will happen before the end of the season. As fans we have to run him out of town like we did Sosa. Make signs when you attend a Cubs game, demanding the firing of Dusty & booing everytime he comes out of the dugout. Upper mgmt will get the message. I once was a Dusty appologist, now I just have had enough!
  4. Are you joking me? This must be a joke? Even by Dusty's standards this is terrible. What a farce, this whole thing is jut utterly ridiculous right now. No words can express the anger I have towards this organization right now. Hendry grow some balls and fire this trash manager!!! I always root for the Cubs no matter what, but I know that right now the best thing for this orginization is for the Cubs to keep losing. The more they continue on this tailspin the quicker Dusty gets fired. This line-up is absolutely ridiculous. The one person who should be the most out-raged is Mark Prior.
  5. I think they're just guessing what the lineup will be. That's all I was doing, guessing. Regardless of how serious the injury is, I don't think Lee will play tonight. But, again, just a guess. It will be interesting to see who plays 1B. It will be either Hollandsworth or Walker
  6. The Trib is spending alot of money for this crap, and I doubt they are too happy. I'll go out on a limb and say that if the Cubs win less than 2 of the remaining games before the ASB, Dusty gets the axe. Based on the teams performance & the decisions being made by Dusty, boy I hope your right! Maybe the Cubs can salvage some of this season. Is there another Jack McKeon type manager out there? I never thought I'd see you write something like this TrueBlue. You know things are going bad when even the most optimistic fans are calling for Dusty's head. He needs to go already. Early in the season, I wasn't ready to completely right Dusty off, b/c of a few questionable decisions. I was willing to give him some time & the benefit of the doubt & remain optimistic that he could get the job done. Boy have I been wrong. It bothered me that some posters were so pessimistic so early in the season towards Dusty & JH. Bashing management or other Cubs players is something I felt Trolls do. Pessimism isn't something I like to pertake in. However, now I have changed my mind & realize Dusty getting the axe sooner than leter would be beneficial to the future of this orginization. I'm an optimist @ heart like most true Cub fans, but Dusty has driven me to the brink & I have had enough! Answer me this: Wasn't the Cubs bench in 03' a little more reliable than 04' or 05'? I know the Cubs had the likes of: Goodwin,Harris,Simon,Martinez & a platoon situation of Choi & Karros. Am I missing anyone? Thoughts?? I've never seen more stupidity by one person that I see daily with Dusty Baker. And the fact that seemingly the whole world sees the stupid mistakes that Dusty makes every day, but yet he is too stubborn to change his ways is just scary. I have a feeling he's going to be on his way out in the next few weeks. Or at least I hope so. The thing about our bench this year is that it really isn't as bad as it's shown. The problem is is Dusty decides to use Macias or E. Wilson instead of Dubois or Hairston in key situations just because they are more "experienced". Wilson had no right being on this team, but Macias isn't that bad if he was used properly. The fact that Hairston and Dubois still ride the pine while Macias, Wilson, and even Neifi early on in the season were used in critical situations is just another reason why Dusty needs to go immediately. Most on this board will disagree with me, but I'm actually fine with Macias as the 25th player on this team & the last option off the bench. During ST, I would have prefered Hansen b/c I thought he was as good of a PH you could have on your bench as there was available out there. I don't think Macias is as bad as some here say he is, but I don't think he's as good as JH & Baker make him out to be, either. I agree with you. While I don't like Macias very much, I am still interested to see where he rates as far as 25th men. He only has 70 AB's this year so it is hardly like Dusty is giving him tons of playing time. Also, he is one of the few if not the only guy on the bench that rarely strikes out and his defense is better than adequate at a few positions. I think he just makes an easy target. BTW, Macias is also overpayed $825K, IIRC.
  7. What's the chance of MacPhail just coming in & telling both Dusty & Jim to take a hike? Hopefully, MacPhail & the tribune co. just puts the heat on JH to fire Dusty.

I'll go out on a limb and say that if the Cubs win less than 2 of the remaining games before the ASB, Dusty gets the axe. You think they would eat Dusty's $4M next year that fast? For some reason I think Hendry actually agrees with Dusty's managerial moves. He is the one that supplies Dusty with the players. If Dusty goes Hendry needs to get the Axe on the same day. Do you honestly think that Dusty doesn't have a big say in personnel decisions? He has almost all of the say in who gets called up/ sent down, and all of the say in who plays. Hendry is not without blame, but Dusty deserves the lion's share of it. It wasn't Dusty's fault that Hendry failed to fill big holes over the off season and left him with a less than avg. bench. Also, not Dusty's fault that Hendry made few improvements to the bullpen. Hendry should take as much blame as Dusty. But I would like to see both of them go. That may be, but for every problem Hendry created by non-action, Dusty has exacerbated twice over with his greivous ineptitude. Remember Chad Fox, who everyone knew was not to pitch consecutive days early in the season? Well, we know how that turned out. Remember in ST when Hendry and others were saying that Dempster should be the closer so Hawk could go back to the role he was comfortable in? Well, we know how that turned out. Remember when Dubois was ripping the ball and was white hot and we watched Holla hit .200 for a month? We have a decent leadoff hitter in Hairston and an excellent 2 hole hitter in Walker, and yet we watch Perez and Patterson languish at the top of the order while Lee's prowess goes wasted? You see how a white-hot Cedeno was brought up and promptly mired on the bench in favor of an ice cold Perez? And on, and on, and on. Hendry as much to blame as Baker? I don't think so. Has JH made some mistakes? Sure, but he has made more good decisions than bad. Baker is more to blame than is Hendry & it's not even close.

  12. It's Dusty's fault that Neifi & Corey are getting any playing time right now. They both are flat out awful. Corey should be a PH off the bench and/or defensive replacement late in the game @ best. Some people here think Cedeno should be playing everyday over Neifi. I would be OK with a platoon situation. Neifi 2 starts, Cedeno 2 starts. It's clear that many of Dusty's decisions this year has cost this team games. The players have to perform, but the manger has to put them in the best possible scenario to succeed & that is not happening. We are all Cub fans & want to see this team win & suceed, but it might be best if the Cubs continue this torrid play for a week or more, so JH decides he has finally had enough & cans him. I'm not sure if that would happen, but he has 3 guys that are capable of taking over as interim manger right now: Rothchild,Pole & Little.
  13. Amen. A big inning coming in the top of the 6th
  14. Actually, we have a CF, his name is Jerry Hairston Jr.
  15. Is Corey on pace to beat Dunn's K record?
  16. It will cost alot more than that to do a trade with TB!
  17. did you jinx us? I blame you!!!!! Yeah, it's my fault Neifi left 6 OB!
  18. Corey,Neifi & Sosa (3 easiest outs in baseball excluding C's,of course)
  19. Answer: Cubs & Reds twice, Braves & Giants 3 times
  20. Ensberg should definately be there.
  21. No the Cards have been shut-out 4 or more times. Here's a clue: only 1 of these 4 teams has a record over .500
  22. Why is Corey being benched a bad thing? It was more in reference to the fact that he's grabbing pine than my sadness at that fact. I do believe he would have been fine if Baker had dropped him to the 7 or 8 hole and kept him there until he showed improvement, but I digress. I agree, I would be fine if Corey was in the line-up & batting 7th or 8th. Any higher than that, I would be very dissapointed.
