I as a baseball fan had alot of respect for the orginization & the way Larry Bienfest & the front office execute baseball operations with a low to mid-level payroll. It's quite impressive. However, I went to the last 2 Cub/Marlin games & was quite dissapopinted & thought the way they treated the Cubs & their fans was very classless. Tell me if any of you have seen this @ other ballparks, not by the fans but excuted by the marketing dept. & front office: On Friday night, before the game, Billy the Marlin(mascot) had a live goat on a leash & walked it up & down in front of the Cubs dugout for a good 30 minutes. If it was on the Marlins side of the field or up further on the 3rd baseside(Cubsside) it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal. During that 1/2 hour before the game, the loud speaker had goat sounds blarring throughout the stadium. Also, on the big screen when a Cubs' player was announced & his picture was displayed, on the each side of his photo in the bottom left part of the screen they placed goats with Cub hats. Everytime the Marlins scored a run instead of celeebrating in Marlin fashion they again blarred the goat sound throughout the stadium. BTW, the play by Cabrera LY @ Wrigley imitating the Bartman play I thought was also classless. Has anyone seen anything like this? I find it quite classless, however I know some of you might just consider it harmless fun. Is the line of professionalism being crossed by the Marlin orginization?
