  1. full of holes? I think the bullpen is one arm away from solidifying.
  2. Go Corey! solo shot? I have a question, why is nobody allowed to bash the Cubs at all but you take every opportunity to bash Corey? The double standard is getting very tiring. How am I bashing, Corey? He has a trend of hitting solo Hr's this year. He is in the development stage of his career so he can get back to the bigs & I'm just curious if those trends are beginning to change. I'm rooting for Corey!
  3. I guess bad habits are hard to break! Well in his defense they did say that he has an instructor with him and has been taking extra BP. At least he's trying. Good to hear he's working at it
  4. I guess bad habits are hard to break!

  6. Were all rooting for you Corey. However, we all hope the Cubs take their time with him this time out & don't rush him back to the majors. I say late season call-ups @ the earliest.
  7. I agree, one game determining home field advantage in the WS is ridiculous. Selig needs to go!
  8. Not as annoying as Pudge's kid. I'd be excited too if that were my dad, but he was annoying and cocky all at once. That's why my nickname for M.Cabrera fits so well. "The Punk"
  9. Then your assuming Washington will win that division or win the WC & I don't see this team keeping it up in the 2nd half.
  10. .253 35/80 2 of those 3 numbers he will!
  11. How could they have done any better? please explain
  12. The money that the Cubs paid Baltimore to take on Sosa & the rest of his contact was already paid for. What do I mean by that? Sosa received the 4 yr contract b/c of his 3 incredible season of 60+ Hr's & MVP type seasons. During those seasons the Cubs made more money off of Sosa than they paid him for those 4 years. Now that he is a below average OF in MLB & a constant cancer in the clubhouse, JH & the Cubs decided it was best for both Sosa & the Cubs to move on, even if it meant eating the majority of the LY of that contract. This is turning out to be a good move. Burnitz is showing, despite his age, he continues to play good solid fundamental bb & is as good or better than he has been in his career. On the other hand, Sosa has taken a huge step downward in his career production & is a year or 2 away from retirement. What Sosa did for Cub fans & the game of baseball up to 2003 was incredible. He will never be forgotten & is a lock as a first ballot HOF er'. However, this is a "what have you done for me lately" business & Sosa has been very dissapointing the last two seasons. Injuries, lack of production both offensively & defensively & me first attitude before the team, got him run out of town. Those who are dissapointed about Sosa no longer with the Cubs are still caught up in what he did in those 3 incredible seasons. Those who are good to see him gone realize that he was no longer able to help the Cubs & if he did stick around he would have hurt this team. Burnitz is a selfless player who plays all out & is still productive from the left side of the plate something the Cubs needed. Sosa is the complete opposite..
  13. I'd also like to remind everyone about his fake beaning stunt against the Cubs last year. IIRC, Mike Remlinger wanted to eat him alive after that incident. Edmonds should probably go with Berkman to Hollywood. Edmonds has been fooling many baseball people for years when he leaves his feet when most CF's stay on their feet & make those plays routinely. Edmonds is the most overrated defensive player in MLB.
  14. i remember that. i despise that guy for it now. another reason i can't stand that club is jack mckeon. when he argued that the ball that cabrera (i think) hit off of the basket in right field at wrigley was a homer while they were up by 10 runs, i lost any respect i had for him. de los santos and loduca displayed the only acts of class i've ever seen from the marlins last night. After Cabrera did that, My nickname for him is "The Punk".
  15. 50-60% of the people @ the last 2 games were Cubs fans. Cubbie blue ruled that stadium (Wrigley South?)
  16. I as a baseball fan had alot of respect for the orginization & the way Larry Bienfest & the front office execute baseball operations with a low to mid-level payroll. It's quite impressive. However, I went to the last 2 Cub/Marlin games & was quite dissapopinted & thought the way they treated the Cubs & their fans was very classless. Tell me if any of you have seen this @ other ballparks, not by the fans but excuted by the marketing dept. & front office: On Friday night, before the game, Billy the Marlin(mascot) had a live goat on a leash & walked it up & down in front of the Cubs dugout for a good 30 minutes. If it was on the Marlins side of the field or up further on the 3rd baseside(Cubsside) it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal. During that 1/2 hour before the game, the loud speaker had goat sounds blarring throughout the stadium. Also, on the big screen when a Cubs' player was announced & his picture was displayed, on the each side of his photo in the bottom left part of the screen they placed goats with Cub hats. Everytime the Marlins scored a run instead of celeebrating in Marlin fashion they again blarred the goat sound throughout the stadium. BTW, the play by Cabrera LY @ Wrigley imitating the Bartman play I thought was also classless. Has anyone seen anything like this? I find it quite classless, however I know some of you might just consider it harmless fun. Is the line of professionalism being crossed by the Marlin orginization?
  17. v.s. righties CF Hairston LF Hollandsworth 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Burnitz C Barrett 2B Walker SS Cedeno v.s. lefties CF Hairston LF Murton 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Burnitz C Barrett 2B Walker SS Cedeno Bench: Neifi,Macias,Greenberg,Blanco Murton/Holla
  18. & the baseball academy award goes to: Jim Edmonds in "Mascara Man"
  19. Only getting rid of Perez and Macias would do that. Please let Baker be fired. Jim has to know Dusty won't play Greenberg and Murton. I'm keeping an eye out for a press conference notice. Why do so many people on this site think Macias is the cause of our problems. No doubt he is weak, but he is the least of our problems. I would love for us to be debating over who gets the 25th spot, unfortunately, spots 6-24 are the problem. Actually, he is one of the few Cubs who is playing well right now
  20. Obviously this team is going nowhere Here are some of the moves I would make if GM: Remlinger for a mid to low level prospect, bring up Hill Rusch for a mid to high level prospect, bring up Welly or Aardsma Maddux for one to 2 mid to high level prospects from Ana or SD, Leicster Hollandsworth for a mid level prospect bring up Grieve Patterson for anything bring up Murton Release Macias bring up Fontenot Release Neifi once Nomar is 100% healthy( might even be a good idea to shop Nomar & see what you can get for him) Cedeno starting SS Moving one of either Walker or JHJR might not be that bad of an idea either, bring up Kelton BTW, Firing Dusty is the 1st move. One prospect I don't bring up is Pie, maybe during roster expansion, but not right away. Let the 20 year old develop. He is the future!
  21. We'll I'll be at tomorrow nights & Saturday nights games? Can they fire Dusty tonight?
  22. I know he threw the meatball on a 0-2 count, but shouldn't Barrett or mgmt get some of the blame for calling for that pitch? That's not where Barrett set up to catch it. Where did he set-up? outside corner? He set-up kind of high. Since when did Novoa become the set-up man? or does Dusty have a set-up man by committee?
  23. I know he threw the meatball on a 0-2 count, but shouldn't Barrett or mgmt get some of the blame for calling for that pitch? That's not where Barrett set up to catch it. Where did he set-up? outside corner?
