  1. Wow, I knew the media would get to the Bears fans this week. Guys, we knew coming into this week that this was how it was going to be. And it's only going to get worse right up until kickoff. Just don't watch or read anything on ESPN until then. And I'm pretty sure the pregame show is going to be the worst thing yet. But we shouldn't be this bitter (myself included) over a game that hasn't happened yet.
  2. Also, accuweather says snow possible, but when click on the hourly, it says amount of snow: 0.0 inches. So who knows. It's not going to blizzard, so the snow won't have any effect really. EDIT: ABC news is currently re-airing their broadcast (it's 1:30 a.m.. Don't ask why I'm up, I just got home. Early night at the bar.), and their weather man says high temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees, with around 3 inches of snow accumulating by halftime of the game. Windchills around 17 though, which again, is bitterly cold.
  3. http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/wxdetail/60605?dayNum=2&from=weekend Weatherchannel has 0% chance of snow for Sunday during the day. Really? Because all of the newscasts up here are saying there should be snow on sunday. I've seen three different channels the past two days, and all are predicting at least a light flurry. Either way, weather will only be a small factor in the game.
  4. Accuweather up to minute forecast for sunday. Cloudy, snow possible. High of 28 degrees. Windchill in the teens. (Which means bitterly cold, and I won't be going outside)
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hotstove06/columns/story?id=2735165&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1 He's gonna have a monster year... :knocks on wood:
  6. Yes, except of course Mike Brown whose been gone since week 7 and won't be back. I can't decide what was a bigger loss for the Bears this year. Losing Brown, or losing Tommie Harris. Harris got all the pressure on the QB, but Brown was a pretty intimidating guy in the secondary. Everyone says Harris. I say Brown. There was a noticeable, immediate dropoff the moment Mike Brown went down. We were already giving up more than I was comfortable with, even when Tommie was still healthy. But look, we've essentially got 2 injured starters out of 22. That's not too bad. Yeah they hurt, but a team should still be able to carry on without every single starter healthy. I agree. Also, Brown's injury hurt our run D more than our pass coverage. Mike Brown was the guy who filled the gap on running plays, and once he went down our run D took a big hit. We miss them both, but if we could have only one bck for the next 2 games I would pick Brown. That said, the only way I want Brown back next year is if they add another quality safety too. His yearly injuries have a Prior/Wood effect on the Bears. But still, losing two pro bowl caliber players on one side of the ball really hurts. If those two were healthy now, damn, Bears defense would be downright scary.
  7. Unless he's strapped down to a hospital bed, I don't see him missing this game due to illness. While it might be a slight factor in his performance, I would be in total shock to see him not play. And I thought Ogunleye made a couple key plays against Seattle. So I'm glad he's playing. Hopefully he can keep up his level of intensity and get to Brees a few times.
  8. They're back. But if the Saints can find a way to throw the deep ball with any level of success, they will steamroll that defense. (See: Steve Smith from last year.)

  10. Or is it because he's the PROVEN veteran that has shown he can and will run for 1200/1300 yards. While the veterans may have complained, it's still not their call to make. It's the coaches. And I've never heard of anyone being mad about Benson taking the job, so I'll have to take your word on that. But you are right. There is no point in arguing this anymore. Some guys think Jones is better, some guys think Benson is better. But both sides will be happy when either one of them gets into the end zone. So I've said all I'll say on the Jones/Benson issue in this thread. apologies. im getting testy because I realize its only thursday. i love all three backs like they were my children. i honestly dont care if bridget jones scores a touchdown as long as its for the bears. No apologies necessary. We're all a little jumpy waiting for this game, and we're all going to try to talk about it all week to keep us going until Sunday. Come Sunday, we'll all be cheering for the same guys anyway. (This was directed at Bears fans, but hey, if Saints fans want to swing our way... we'll take 'em. )

  12. And there's also a reason he's starting and Benson is not.
  13. You know, almost everything you just said can be said about Cedric Benson as well. Only differences is that Jones has run for 1200-1300 yards (granted Benson doesn't have the carries that Jones does), and Benson doesn't dance in the backfield because they have different running styles.
  14. http://www.chicagobears.com or you could always glance at the thread title. YOU KNOW WHAT................... When you look at something so many times, you tend to not read what it says. That may sound really stupid, but it makes sense. But thank you and good bye. Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I was looking all over looking for the start time too. It took me a while to notice that it was in the title.
  15. http://www.chicagobears.com Or just check the title of this thread. Start of the game should be 2 p.m. central time.
  16. you should be banned for bringing him up, hah. Haha, I know. I was trying to think of a better alternative. But when I think "fumble", only one name comes to mind...
  17. I could've sworn he fumbled earlier in the year. It was around the time he was complaining about not getting any playing time. ESPN stats says he has none this year, and one last year.
  18. Coach Ditka? Did you see Ditka's prediction of the game? Hilarious. Apparently the game will go into an overtime that will last for 6 weeks. The superbowl will be canceled and the Bears and Saints will both be declared champions.
  19. I know we've gone over this before, but he should have been credited with a fumble in the Buffalo game, and there are a couple of other times he dropped the ball almost instantly after his knee touched down, most recently in OT last week. Thomas Jones has one fumble in twice as many carries and over three times as many receptions. He's not exactly Rashan Salaam out there.
  20. Jones "walked out" on his team during offseason workouts. I wouldn't call working out with your own personal trainer during the offseason "walking out". Especially when those workouts are voluntary. And besides, there's a huge difference between doing that, and just getting up and leaving mid-game because you don't like your situation. And I think it's even worse to get mad at your teammates for bringing it up to the coaches.
  21. It was fixed! He got the Mix's soccer mom vote.
  22. They tried that, but the veterans reportedly revolted. I think Jones' playing time might be more about team chemistry than best player. I can see why the veterans would revolt after the near Ricky Williams impersonation Benson pulled during preseason. You don't walk out on your team in the middle of a game, and then get mad when your teammates rat you out to the coaches. He brought that on himself.
  23. If it were true that Benson is the better back, don't you think the coaches would've noticed by now and started him? This isn't Dusty Baker we're talking about. He's been here long enough that he knows the offense, so it's not a matter of progression. The better player would be playing in the playoffs. Jones has gotten over 2500 yards in 2 seasons. He put together the best Bear rushing season last year since Walter Payton. He consistently moves the ball when he's in there, and yes, the pass block difference is noticeable. As a former quarterback (although not since I was a kid), I pay attention to stuff like that. But I will also admit that we're comparing apples to oranges. They are completely different types of backs. Benson has gotten a chance to prove himself this year. Maybe not as many carries as many of you would like, but it's not like he never saw the ball. He will be the feature back next year, no question about it, but right now, I'd go with the guy that got you there, and continues to play well. Maybe not great, but well.
  24. I'll see your New Orleans psychic and raise you a Chicago psychic. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/215577,CST-SPT-vside18.article Hmm.. "Freeze New Orleans" Do as she says! We have to counter the voodoo mojo put on us by the New Orleans psychic! I just wrote down "Freeze New Orleans", folded it up, and put it in my freezer. If it works I'll be in awe. Haha, I wasn't being sarcastic. I'm doing it as well.
  25. Incorrect!!! [-X I think he's correct, I think most people here think Benson should get the bulk. I definitely think he should. He's been the better back. Indeed, he is. Based on what? Their stats look pretty even when you divide them per carry. And while Benson may have improved his blocking, Jones is still clearly better in that category.
