  1. Clark made some of the biggest blocks I've seen a Bear make all year yesterday. He was seemed to be in the right place at the right time on every one of them.
  2. Agreed. If the Bears are going to win, Grossman is definitely going to have to make some big plays.
  3. Oh, I'm not saying the rest of the team dogs it out there. I'm just saying, if you look at Urlacher in relation to other middle linebackers throughout the league, you'll probably notice him being involved in more downfield pursuits and tackles in the secondary than you would most other guys. He does not quit. Yeah, I remember hearing about that demerit system. Urlacher said he could watch the same game as Lovie, but when Urlacher grades himself, he gets 1, maybe 2 demerits. When Lovie does, its often in double digits.
  4. I wouldn't say they exactly shut down the Patriots running game. The first running play that I can remember was a 40 yard scamper on a play that the Bears run quit well with both Jones and Benson. They have improved their D tremendously since the end of the regular season, but all it takes is one missed tackle or one well timed block to break a big run. Run the ball early to open up the field for Grossman. And he needs to hit his tight ends often. They also need to throw that slant route over the middle. That is Grossman's best ball.
  5. Urlacher is extremely fast for a linebacker, but the reason he was still chasing Bush, and the reason he's in on almost every play is that he never gives up until the whistle blows. There have been plays this year (and throughout his career) where he has been knocked over 20 yards away from the ball, but he still gets up and sprints toward the play even if it looks like it's over already. The rest of the guys are already headed back to the huddle, and he's flying in out of nowhere to make a tackle or influence the play when he should've been dead in the water already. I was not surprised at all to see him leading the pursuit 75 yards downfield.
  6. Already posted in the NFC Championship thread, but I think it needs to be posted here too. Wojo eats crow: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=2738549
  7. I think the key to this game is the same key that the Bears had against the Saints: Force turnovers and keep the Colts offense off the field. Yeah, I fully expect the Colts to see a steady dose of Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson.
  8. What are the odds of a cold, snowy field in Miami in two weeks?
  9. The Colts should be the favorites...they're coming from the more dominant AFC. Lovie and Co thrive on being underdogs though. :) It won't be a by much though. I'm guessing the Colts will be favored by 3. Yeah, I'd say 3-5 since it's a neutral field. AFC has just been that much better than the NFC this year.
  10. I'll consider this the REAL superbowl thread. Go Bears. And I'm actually glad to see Peyton silence the critics with a huge comeback victory. Congrats to the Saints and Pats, both had great seasons. But it's time for the big boys to play. Key to this game: GET PRESSURE ON PEYTON MANNING.
  11. I had no problem with Bush's somersault into the endzone, I'd probably do it too after an 88 yard touchdown. But the pointing at Urlacher got to me. I thought Bush was above that sort of behavior.
  12. Tough conditions to have a solid passing game today though. Even Brees was missing a lot of his throws. But yeah, when Rex can hit that slant over the middle, that's when he's at his best. I'm proud of the way he played today. He did what he had to do to win. It may not have been pretty, but he pretty much limited his mistakes and bad throws (although that pass in the end zone that he overthrew almost made me cry). And when the pressure was on and they needed a big drive, he definitely came through. What a catch on that touchdown pass though.
  13. Quote of the year. Just a tip for Bush... you don't want to make Brian Urlacher mad. You won't like him when he's mad.
  14. Lots of honking going on. At least up by my place just north of Wrigley. I'm sure the party will really get going shortly.
  15. That's right media... keep talking bad about that defense...
  16. Hopefully they will go in the locker room, talk about it, and fix it. Bears were confused at the half last week too. Remember Lovies timeout with 2 secs left? wasnt that at the end of the regulation? yep
  17. Gotta get the ball into the end zone in those situations. You just have to.
  18. Hey, just start drinking earlier. It makes time fly. :D That's my plan :) WAY ahead of you guys...
  19. Yeah, this has gotten out of hand. I'm done here too. This isn't even really about football anymore.
  20. The defense shut down the opponents early in those 4 games, before taking big leads and playing prevent with 3rd stringers. Yeah, a lot of people fail to notice that. Those games, outside of the Green Bay game, which I could consider a throwaway game, were over long before the other team put up it's points
  21. You guys talking about a win and the superbowl is really making me feel like we're jinxing the team. I will only say IF the Bears win when I talk about this game. I'm way too superstitious to say the "Bears will win."
  22. Wow, then I'd hate to see how far down Grossman would be without Jones and Benson, because the Bears running backs outrushed the Saints backs. (Jones over McCallister, Benson over Bush)
  23. Guys, lets not let our allegence (sp?) blind us. To say the Saints would have no offense without the running backs they have now is insane. Drew Brees put up a MONSTER season. Their receivers are very good as well. Give them any normal running back, and they still have an extremely good offense. You have to give credit where credit is due. But, I think Tommie Harris and Mike Brown are bigger keys than McCallister and Bush. Harris and Brown are both pro bowlers. Harris anchors the defensive and was wreaking havoc in every backfield until he got hurt. Notice the difference in numbers since those two went down. Bush is a nice story, and a flashy player, but he's no pro bowler in my opinion.
