  1. Haha. Let's stop pretending. You're never leaving. None of us here gets out alive :) Oh, I'll still show up here to chat and talk and complain, but I'll be emotionally done. I'm tired of investing my emotional energy in this team.
  2. If Dusty gets an extension, I'm done with this team until the day he is no longer manager.
  3. It's like I stated before: More money. If there was no DH, Barry Bonds would have to retire after this year because he can't play the field anymore. But if he wants to play one more year, look how much money some team will cough up to have him DH. Now, if there was no DH, that roster spot would go to a "defensive specialist" or a reliever, who would make far, far less.
  4. Get well soon, Ronny. This team is gonna kill that poor man.
  5. Baseball will never be rid of the DH in our lifetimes. The Players Union would never, ever go for it. If anything, if we were to see a hard cap in our lifetimes, the owners would probably have to give the DH in the NL as a sacrifice. And the Union wouldn't want those aging sluggers who can maybe get one last paycheck in the AL as a DH to lose that money. I'm not saying I like the DH. I don't. It just won't ever go away. Keep interleague play, though. It needs to be adjusted, sure, but I think it's good for the game.
  6. I was watching on TV when Sammy hit number 61 and 62. Make me the hitting coach!
  7. You knew trading the farm for superstars and not replenishing it was going to kill them eventually.
  8. Neifi was booed at least twice last night. BUT BOOING HIM IS BAD AND IT HURTS HIS FEELINGS!!!!!11!!111!!ONE
  9. And 1968 was "The Year of the Pitcher" in which Gibson set the single-season ERA mark and Yaz won the Triple Crown and didn't even hit .300. It makes Neifi's feat all the more pathetic. Yaz won the Triple Crown in 1967. He lead the league in BA in '68 with a .301. Doesn't anybody remember the Miracle Sox of '67 anymore? My point is still that Neifi is REALLY bad.
  10. Fred Hornkohl would probably know.
  11. i'm watching the Fox sports StL feed, so no Stoney, its the regular Stl duo I heard them say the same thing. Disgusting. I'm seriously on the verge of finding another team to root for. I've always been a Cubs fan, but, as a baseball fan, it's becoming tough to root for them. I'm not investing any emotional energy in this team anymore until major changes are made. I caught the bottom of the 9th today. Didn't care. Flipped over to a "Fraiser" rerun right after the game. At least I have my summer free now.

  13. The old saying "Beggars can't be choosy" comes to mind.
  14. Just so long as they win, at this point I don't care.
  15. This is what worries me, too. JoBo was the same way. Loss of velocity, didn't go after hitters, etc. He was hiding an arm injury. I wouldn't be shocked if Demp is doing the same. Of course, if he is hurt its not like it hurts the Cubs too much. The season is over anyway.
  16. He'll be gone by the trade deadline. We can't have that crap on this team!
  17. Yeah. What a selfish SOB for not wanting to play at a level below what he feels he's capable. He ought to just stick around, jump from team to team and collect as many paychecks as possible while each year his stats get worse, the rotten lout. Why, I hope he gets hit by a car. That'll teach him to not play when he sucks!
  18. A well trained monkey for manager at this point... Well trained? I think this team deserves an untrained monkey that sits in the dug out and slings poop at them every time they have a 1 or 2 pitch at bat. Could be a good motivational tool. You sir have won the internet.
  19. I believe he's managing one of the Nationals' minor league teams. Anyone have a stat for that team on opponent's outfield assists?
  20. Where is Wavin' Wendell now?
  21. "Send in the Clowns"
  22. Maybe we can one day achieve Hendry's dream of fielding a team of 25 second basemen.
  23. Nomar and DLee = dumb luck. Pierre was a bad trade. The others can mainly be attributed to the coaching staff. That may be true, but Hendry is in control of the coaching staff. He's the one who's let it go on this long and let it get this bad.
  24. I think we could lose ever game up till DLee getting back and Dusty still gets 2-3 weeks with him until he gets canned. The absolute earliest anyone will be canned is the All-Star break.
