  1. 1-0 Cubs. Soto singles to Center. Geovany Soto.
  2. Come on, Ted. Don't regress to the yutz you were in the AL.
  3. Yeah, if there was any silver lining to that inning, it's that. I just hope they don't start getting anxious if there's no score in about the 5th or 6th inning and start swinging at crap.
  4. I hope he gets hot today. Even a fly ball with any distance would have scored Johnson and put us in the lead. Dangit.
  5. Aram GIDP. So much for that. End of 1, no score.
  6. I have to admit, they're showing a lot of patience against Gorzellany today. Working the counts very well. I hope they do that all game.
  7. Come on, Aramis. Put us ahead here. Aram 1-11 lifetime vs Gorzelanny.
  8. I understand we're "playing the percentages" here, but how the hell is Pie supposed to learn to hit lefties if he never faces them? Seems pretty counter-intuitive to me.
  9. So has Pie offiically fallen out of favor with Lou and Co. now?
  10. An average lefty vs this Cubs lineup? Looks like we'll have a new game thread starter tomorrow. Cubs were historically bad vs. LHP last season.
  11. He's only been with us for 5 official games, but he's probably my favorite player. He plays hard, he plays smart, he's fundamentally sound, he has a cannon for an arm, he's a tough out, he's got some pop in his bat, and dammit, he's clutch! Some of the struggling bats should watch tape of how Fukudome approaches his AB's. They'd learn something.
  12. Better question is how the hell are the Cardinals off to best start since 2000. Tim Kurkjian (or some other ESPN anchor, they are all the same to me) picked them to win the division and I laughed at it at the time but now... But now what? Now that they've started the season 4-1 you think they're going to make a huge run at the division? There's absolutely nothing to 'but now...' about. Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, the White Sox, and Florida are atop their respective divisions, you worried about them too? I could see Tampa Bay hanging in for awhile Tampa's going to surprise a lot of people this year. I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but they have a solid young core of players and they could be good for a long time, much like the Brewers are starting to be.
  13. I'd stick with Pie and let him work through this mini-slump. If his confidence is shot, he won't do anything at this level, especially at his young age.
  14. Oswalt will pitch a perfect game with 24 K's. Fuku will go 0-3, but there will be 3 fantastic catches on balls he hits.
  15. Is that the Cubs record after this game, or a very optimistic prediction of Soriano's day tomorrow? Both
  16. White Sox fans, all 5 die-hard. And how are they in their right minds? And how many of those 5 own TV's? They sold them to buy meth.
