  1. As awesome as Soriano is, Glenallen Hill has more awesomeness in his pinky finger than Soriano does in his whole body.
  2. Do you really want Jim Hendry dealing with Billy Beane?
  3. Yeah I really don't like calling them Super Cubs, I'm pretty sure we lose on a heartbreaker now I'll change it if you guys want.
  4. Fixed. I had Marshall on the brain for whatever reason. At least I got Sean right.
  5. Well boys, our Cubs are, as the kids say, "en fuego." Six in a row after that awful series in Pittsburgh, and we have a chance to have an undefeated homestand before going out west for a week and having all the games be really, really late at night. Stupid west coast. For the Rockies, we have Ubaldo Jiminez, who is giving his best "Deer in the headlights" impression http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7900.jpg 1-5, 5.37 ERA, 1.70 WHIP vs the grinning dweeb, Sean Gallagher http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/8046.jpg 2-1, 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP Let's see if our Cubs can get the rare 4-game sweep and take a 7-game winning streak to San Diego. No reason we can't beat Jiminez like a rented mule. Let's go Cubs!
  6. The Rockies aren't going to do much of anything this year, and Aaron Cook isn't a terrible option. If Colorado decides to be sellers at the deadline (and why wouldn't they be?), could Aaron Cook be had for a reasonable price to shore up the rotation?
  7. Now if we could just figure it out on the road...
  8. This is only the second time in my life that I've expected the Cubs to make the playoffs. The first time was in 2004. We all know how that turned out. I know they're going to hurt me, but I can't help myself. I want to believe!!
  9. Here I was thinking I was going to see most of the game today, as I was scheduled 3-midnight. However, I was called in and will now work from 11-8 missing most of the game. I may be able to catch a half-inning or so on my break. So it won't be my fault if the Cubs don't beat the hell out of Rusch today.
  10. Like I was the only one predicting we wouldn't win.
  11. If the Cubs win this game, they'll be upgraded to Super Cubs in the next game thread.
  12. He could start by not maxing out at 83 MPH. Wow, is that all the harder he's throwing? He's gotta be hiding an arm injury. Has to be. It was like when JoBo mysteriously lost 6 mph off of his fastball and everyone started killing him. He was playing injured and didn't tell anyone. I bet Lilly is the same way. I bet you can't make the new game thread. Now. I'm doing it now. Keep your pants on. It's No Pants Friday. I love seeing the new game thread after a win. Nothing better. I also love how chicagocubs.com went all LL Cool J on us and labaled the head story "Don't call it a comeback" Dont call it a comeback I been here for years Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear Makin the tears rain down like a mon soon Listen to the bass go boom Explosion overpowerin Over the competition Im towerin Wreckin shop when I drop these lyrics thatll make you call the cops Dont you dare stare, you betta move Dont ever compare Me to the rest thatll all get sliced and diced Competitions payin the price It's up now. Knock yourself out.
  13. Wow. Just wow. The Cubs and Rockies have yet another classic game that people will be talking about for years. In three of them, the Cubs came out on top. I can't decide if I like the August 2001 game, last year's 6-run comeback game, or the 5/30 game the best. All are classics. Anyway, in this game the Rockies trot out former Cub Fatty McGee (aka Glendon Rusch) http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5764.jpg 1-2, 6.48 ERA, 1.68 WHIP vs Ryan Dempster http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6006.jpg 6-2, 2.56 ERA, 1.09 WHIP That goatee is badass. There is NO reason at all, zip, zero, nada that we can't hit Rusch like the BP pitcher he is and make it 6 in a row. Let's go Cubs!

  16. WOW!! I would have given anything to be at this game! I listened on my lunch hour and wrote it off when it was 4-0. What is it about the Cubs and Rockies that they have classic games? I can think of 3 immediately... the 2001 Steve McMichael/Ricky Guttierrez game, the 6-run 9th inning comeback, and today. Wow. And I can't help it... as much as I know this team is going to rip my heart out and stomp on it, I'm starting to believe. This just feels like such a special, magical year.
  17. Yeah, just like I predicted: We're not going to hit fly balls today. Lots of grounders and we won't get a sniff. Going back to work now. A New Era, have fun with tomorrow's game thread.
  18. If the Indians get hot you can forget about it.
  19. We've all seen games like this before: The Rockies will continue their homer-happy hit parade. The Cubs will hit weak grounders and will refuse to work the count all day.
  20. Our rotation really needs to be addressed before October or we're toast.
  21. 4-0 Rockies. Get someone up, NOW, Lou, before this gets out of hand.
  22. Dear Lilly: April is over. Please remove your head from your ass. Thanks, Cubs fans.
