The inconsistency is certainly puzzling. The only person who would say something like that hasn't watched enough baseball its baseball you get shut out by bad pitchers and you crush good ones it happens Well, thanks for questioning my baseball knowledge. I didn't think I had to say "that's baseball, it happens", but apparently I have to hit some people over the head with it.

Trade Marquis for a cheese sandwich in the offseason and give any old bum on the street the 5th starter spot.... Marshall, Gaudin, or Shark would be viable options next year as well.

For as much as they have pestered us this season, I can't really sympathize with them I do feel pretty bad for them. They were on the cusp of the postseason these last 2 years, and now looks like they'll be rebuilding next year at least, if not for the next several. Good for us, bad for them, but I don't hate them like I do St. Louis. Probably because I rooted for them all those years in my childhood when they were in the American League. I remember being ticked that they didn't catch the Blue Jays back in '92. I was glad they moved to the NL in 1998 because then I could see the Cubs in Milwaukee. Im sure that if the shoe was on the other foot theyd be crying in their Velveeta. I don't care if they hate us. I just don't hate them, is all.a

I'm torn on Demp. I really am. For one, I'd make a lousy GM. I'm too much of a fan to think with my head. Demp has been fantastic for us this year and is a big part of why we've been so good. I'd love to see him be a big part of this rotation for a long time. However, that being said, I've said on here before that one should always be leery of guys who underachieve or are average and then have a huge year in their contract year. Usually when you throw money at those guys, more often than not it kills you (see: Beltre, Adrian and Blauser, Jeff). I'd also put out feelers about other 1Bmen via trade or free agency. If we can't do better than what we've got now, fine. But it would be nice to at least explore the options at first. And also: Manny. Throw a crapload of money at him. Move Soriano to right and Kouske to CF.

At the time it was a legitimate concern. The Cubs were horrible on the road until they rattled off that hot streak.

Clinch at Wrigley, and I want the circumstances to be where the Magic number is at 1, and the Cubs clinch it with a win, and not with a loss by the Brewers while they're sitting in the locker room, like what happened last year. -

Keep playing them enough so they stay hot and don't get rusty. You don't want to play the I-Cubs from here until the end of the season because you don't want to cool any hot hands you may have. -

What are they when they throw no hitters? 13-0. What do you think ?? The Angels lost earlier this year with a "no-hitter" that wasn't technically a no-hitter b/c they only pitched 8 innings. andy hawkins threw one for the yankees in 1990, i think, too. lost by 4. By 4! That's crazy! He's right. The final was 4-0. That had to be a kick in the nuts. edit: Here's the wikipedia entry on the no-hitter... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Hawkins
