  1. I bet they'll cram the fact that the Cubs haven't won the World Series in over 100 years down our throats. Oh, and I would put money on Bartman and Game 6 being mentioned.
  2. Don't know if this belongs in the GBD forum or Transactions. Mods, feel free to move if need be. Apparently, it is alleged that he dipped into the bonuses of some of the latin prospects he signed. He denies all accusations. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3943660
  3. Well, you'd think at some point that at least a couple of them would be healthy at the same time, right? (Looks up the 1985 season) ..... oh. :(
  4. Corey Patterson part Deux.
  5. Yeah. Poor guy. How can one reasonably expect to live any sort of comfortably on a lousy $10 million a year? I wonder if he can qualify for welfare on that sort of pay. So you'll be giving back a large portion of your lifestyle to bring you down to the world average? If $10 million is "world average", then I need to move. Seriously. Does this guy wipe his butt with $100 bills? Does he burn money in his fireplace to keep warm at night? Does he bathe in Cristal? What kind of lifestyle could he have that would be signifcantly hampered on $10 million a year? You live a lifestyle that 3 billion people in this world would cut off a toe to have. So shut up with the class hating on the guy who's a little richer. A LITTLE richer? I appreciate the fact that you think I'm loaded, but I hate to break it to you. I'm not. Yes. I have it pretty well. You don't hear me complaining about mine. But when you're talking about tens of millions a year, enough for anyone on this planet to live in the most extreme luxury, as compared to someone like me who has just enough to pay his mortgage and other bills each month and maybe put a little away for retirement if things go well, I have a hard time sympathizing. I have it better than a good deal of people right now. I bet those people wouldn't feel sorry for me if I went to apply for a job and "only" could find one that pays $15 an hour instead of $20 an hour with 4 weeks vacation and free insurance.

  8. So if the Dodgers walk away like they should, who becomes the front-runner in the Manny sweepstakes? Nobody is going to give him nearly as much as the offer he just rejected. I'd love for Mr. Ricketts to say he wants him. Manny hitting them onto Waveland in a Cubs uniform? Yes, please. Although the headaches he would cause would probably outweigh his production. I know it won't happen, but a guy can dream.
  9. There was nary an anime reference to be found. Ski, are you sick?
  10. I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. My sarcasm detector is broken. I slept like crap last night and had to deal with a crabby infant all day.
  11. Maybe if he wouldn't have been such a whiny you-know-what at the end of his Boston tenure, he'd be getting more offers and more money. He can produce, but when he wants to.
  12. Aaron Miles 2/5 Mark DeRosa traded to Cleveland is the biggest Cubs blunder this offseason (even bigger than letting Wood walk), and is probably one of the 5 dumbest moves this offseason.
  13. ESPN has just reported that Manny has rejected the Dodgers recent 2/45 offer. The guy is a moron. Who else is in the bidding? If the Dodgers were smart they'd just say the hell with it and sign someone else. I wish I could get paid 45 million dollars for the next 2 years of my life to play a game I love. Oh, I'd play naked too for that kind of money.
  14. At least he hasn't flipped out on any umpires or fans yet, so I suppose that's a good sign.
  15. No, it's not. It's more sad than anything. I've just learned to take anything I hear about a Cubs player's injury with a BIG grain of salt. I've been mislead too many times to believe anything from this organization anymore regarding player injuries. They have to earn my trust back.
  16. :rotfl: Was I the only one who found this hilarious? Yes.
  17. There once was a man from Nantucket....
  18. Don't worry. He'll be ready by Opening Day. He'll be ready by May 1st. He'll be ready by mid-June He'll be ready by the All-Star break He'll be back by August, just in time for the playoff push! He's out for the year. Woah, sorry. Had some Wood and Prior flashbacks there.
  19. You'd think ESPN would have picked up on this by now. I see nothing on their site or any other about this.
  20. Maybe this is what baseball needs. I liken it to someone addicted to drugs or alcohol. Sometimes they have to hit rock bottom before they realize they're in need of some serious help. Maybe this is baseball's "rock bottom."
  21. What are the specs? How many teams, h2h or roto, what are the stats, etc?
  22. Just use an empty soda bottle like the rest of us.
  23. What the hell. I'm in unless there are extreme circumstances which limit my participation.
  24. I could possibly be interested if the conditions were right.
