  1. Doug Davis looks like he's having a stroke when he pitches.
  2. Nice battle here: Slowball McGee vs The Iron Midget
  3. That Edmonds walk is going to come back to haunt us.
  4. Ok, good inning. Just quit falling behind 2-0, 3-1 to every hitter, k?
  5. This is the first game I've watched all year. What the [expletive] is up with Geo's chest protector?
  6. Yeah, some way of life anyway. Love them, hate them, swear them off then always come back for more. I've probably sworn the Cubs off about 100x now and I've come back each time.
  7. CHICAGO CUBS BASEBALL IS ON THE AIR...... I love Pat Hughes.
  8. Ultimately I think that Soriano contract is going to be the end of Hendry. Hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later.
  9. Over or under: 2.5 runs for the Cubs today
  10. I have nothing against Edmonds anymore, but I hope he goes 0-for the series.
  11. At least if he went to the AL he could be DH'ed.
  12. I don't really blame Soriano if he's just to the point where his skills have naturally started to decline. However, if he's just half-assing it, then I hope the media crucifies him. I don't blame him for taking that ridiculous contract. Anybody in baseball would have signed for those kind of years and money.
  13. Not if the Houston Astros have any say in the matter. And the Pirates are still the Pirates. I don't think the Cubs will finish last, but the Cubs are capable of out-sucking anybody, so you never know.
  14. Those people are idiots, but in fairness to them, if we had Sam Fuld in LF right now and an extra $17.5 million (difference between Soriano and Fuld) to spend on something else I'd have to think the Cubs would be a better team. yeah, but that just means we'd be better off if we somehow got out of soriano's contract, as the first thing we'd do with that money is get a real left fielder. Don't be so sure. This is Jim Hendry, after all. He'd probably overpay for some middle relief or go find himself another leadoff hitter or something. But, like someone said, we're just arguing hypotheticals here. If any team would take Soriano off of our hands and would pay the majority of that contract, we'd have to take back a whole bunch of crap or it would be one of the dumbest trades in baseball history. Sadly, only Jim Hendry would pay him that kind of money.
  15. At least they're getting on base, but the first inning today was completely inexcusable. I don't know how you fix it, but all these guys left on base is maddening. It could be overlooked if we'd score them every now and then, but we're not doing that.
  16. Let me be among the first to give Jim Hendry a standing ovation for this brilliant move. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
  17. amen to that. add gray to the list of guys in iowa who are probably better than some of the pitchers on the big club. There's probably a few NSBB'ers who probably couldn't do any worse.
  18. Ok, maybe coming home to Wrigley is what we need. I have confidence that Demp will pitch well. It's the offense and bullpen I'm worried about. Go Cubs. I say another low-scoring game with the Cubs coming out on top, but the pen making it hairy once again.
  19. I heard just small bits and pieces of this game: The final 3 batters in the first after they loaded the bases with nobody out and let Leake off the hook, and Caridad walking in the go-ahead run. 12 LOB again, I see. Yet another pathetic performance. Hopefully they can remove their heads from their asses and do it soon. At least Gorzelanny pitched well. There has got to be something that can be done to drive in more runs. Getting on base doesn't seem to be the problem, it seems to be driving runners in when they're on base. Pressing? Anti-clutch? Who the hell knows, but something needs to be done about it.
  20. Is Leake really this much of a phenom that they feel he didn't need any sort of Minor League experience at all?
  21. Perhaps it uses the pitcher's "rested" delivery motion as a baseline, and then any major deviations from it is considered "fatigue", perhaps the signs we use now... release point is messed up or his arm slot changes? I have no idea, I'm just guessing. It is interesting how technology changes sports like this, though.
  22. Why you didn't take me up on that ban bet on Opening Day when you're getting on my case for calling the game over in the 2nd inning? If you were so confident I was wrong, you should have taken me up on it. that's not on top erik i didn't take you up on the bet because it was a fool's bet and i don't play in mud with pigs (tonight withstanding) Aww, that's why I thought for sure you'd take it! And you should reconsider that mud thing, otherwise you'll never find yourself a wife. Don't tell me I'm wrong when you're thinking the same thing. We both knew they were going to lose. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled thread... if Meph were still here he'd be having a fit, as he apparently didn't believe that pitcher fatigue led to anything negative. It's been fun, imb. Gotta get up early for work tomorrow. Peace.
  23. Stringing together lots of hits isn't an ability. Gremlins don't exist either, but I would like to see one of those. I've always wanted to see a minotaur.
