  1. Most importantly, this gives Ohman a chance to give up the number 50 and assume his rightful place in jersey number 00.
  2. Sounds good, but I'd bet: Mitre, Cedeno, Wuertz optioned to make room for Williamson, Wood, and Nomar. Nothing else happens.
  3. I don't think so. Dusty has no reason to play Holla anymore, Lawton takes Holla's place, and Murton remains the RH component of the platoon. At least that's the way I see it. Anymore? I'm not sure there's been a reason to play Holla at all this season other than his one hot stretch. You're probably right that Murton will get some AB's still, but Lawton might get some starts against lefties, too.
  4. ESPN confirmed it was for Gerut. I posted earlier in another thread that the two players were almost the same guy - just that Gerut is younger and Lawton draws more walks. Their average seasons are nearly identical aside from Lawton's better patience and a little better SB numbers. I like the move, though it means Murton sits behind Holla and Lawton now.
  5. ESPN confirming - but not saying for whom, yet. Gerut is still playing, so it wasn't him. Farnsworth is going to Atlanta.
  6. I'd bet there's no way Griffey would move to LF. He's probably still a better CF than anyone else we've got in Chicago today.
  7. There's a note on a Reds board that the Yankees made an offer for Griffey - but that the Reds didn't discuss it with New York. May be just board chatter (you know how that is. ;) )
  8. Lawton's average season: .269/.371/.422 - 17 HR, 78 RBI, 21 SB Gerut's average season: .265/.336/.437 - 17 HR, 71 RBI, 9 SB Add some walks and a non-bum knee to Gerut (and 6 years of age), and you've got the same player. Add Hollandsworth, and we're cornering (no pun intended) the market on average lefty corner OF'ers. The one thing Lawton adds to the lineup would be walks. If he only costs a AAAA player or two, then that's fine. Anything more, and we're spending too much to add redundant parts.
  9. Agree with that. Floyd is a better fit for the lineup, and he'd actually get to play everyday. He's almost 34, so 10 years of Murton still > Floyd? No way to know today, obviously. Murton is a better fit than Hollandsworth or Hairston or Gerut (until Gerut shows he's got anything in that leg), but if Dusty got that, he wouldn't bat him 8th. If only Murton could put on a fake beard and some crow lines around the eyes to trick Dusty into thinking he's really 35.
  10. The Sandberg/Sutter game is being broadcast on WGN soon - Monday night, I think.
  11. Yeah - worked out the same, but a grounder to the right side was called for. Run scores!
  12. Murton's OBP is .611 in the last 10? Yeah, that should go in the 8-hole. Good call.
  13. What did the Ficker do now? Brenly name-dropped Fick talking about the Pads. I had to react. And Hill gets hit for a double by Hill. Fick jinxed us.
  14. Derrek now 6 for his last 26 (.231) with no XBH. He's certainly allowed a mini-slump, but you can see what it does to the offense - even with ARam hitting.
  15. 58 pitches already. Neifi might not've seen 58 pitches the last two months.
  16. Hawt girlie in the stands. Eh - i mean, let's go, Rich!
  17. Ah, brudder. Dammit. He can make it on his own!
  18. That's all right, lil brudda. You just keep scraping along.
  19. yet he got two k's w/ it that inning. And I cheered both - but I worry how consistently he can get it by guys who aren't batting 8 & 9.
