Sappelt and Lake are both RH and Sweeney has better splits and against LHP than RHP so he may as well be RH.

Man I didn't realize how he'd slumped this year. Those are some pedestrian numbers. Then again, we were saying that about Dom Brown and he finally remembered how to hit this season. OF named Brown are the new market inefficiency.

They are going to have to clear 40 man roster spots eventually in the offseason so they can protect guys for Rule 5 so if Watkins / Lake can handle the roles next season being done now by Ransom / Hairston I think that is a better use of the spots. Lake will have a shot to play a bunch next season if he can take platoon roles at 3B/LF and also hopefully do well enough to also take some starts from Valbuena / Schierholz against RHP. Watkins can be groomed now as a utility player because if the young middle infielders in the organization develop as planned he is not going to have a spot long term as a middle infield starter on this team anyway no matter what he does.

That story read like Jon Heyman was doing a favor for Boras in exchange for a tip or two at some point in the future. It is also basically a word for word rehash of an article he did a couple weeks ago.

I assume he means a promotion of someone at AA to AAA that would then open up an obvious spot for Baez earlier than expected.

That would put them severely over which makes no sense. Why add bonus pool money then go over? Brett Taylor is speculating that some of the signings may not be official and they can still add pool money. If not, and they traded for pool money yesterday just to blow it up today, I will have lost all faith in our FO. Yeah, Brett's specualtion looks right. Sanchez had "agreed," not "signed." Still puts them in a bad situation in trade talks when teams know they have over extended themselves without the extra bonus pool money. Seems like they could get squeezed into a bad deal now. WHY DIDN'T THEY THINK OF THAT!?! -
I think other teams have figured out the Russell throws away constantly to RH hitters.

I guess he figured when the throw didn't get cut off he could advance to third. He was wrong. Bell was too busy trying to stop the runner from scoring when it was obvious he would make it easily to be helping Castillo.

Looks like Vinny is going to the Flyers. Seems like an odd fit for both. They need D and G more than another offensive player and didn't have much cap room even before this signing. I would think since he is getting paid already by TB he would want to go to a team that is in better position to win right away.
