  1. Evan Grant ‏@Evan_P_Grant It sounds like Dempster, who hasn't pitched in Canada since 2004, may have lost his passport or something along those lines. Not serious. I thought he had a place in BC? Too bad he isn't around any more to mentor Wells and Shark on how to be true professionals.
  2. They can bring him back up on Sunday for the double header.
  3. Is there any high fructose corn syrup in that huge, creamy, delicious middle?
  4. We brought up Castillo and Cardenas for the 2 position players, so they need to fill the other rotation spot. Volstad and Raley would seem to be the favorites. Garza, Shark, Wood, Germano, Coleman should fill the 5 man now, right? Wood should go tomorrow on normal rest and then an off day allows them to slot Garza in next week. I forgot that Germano was taking Garza's spot temporarily. It'll be interesting to see if they keep both Germano and Coleman in there, or if they just viewed them as rubber arms that they can use to mop up innings while the roster was in flux. Well, with the lack of guys below them that need the spots I think they could view them in both ways. It probably would be better to give Volstad one last chance to get it together instead of keeping Coleman in the rotation the rest of the season.
  5. Could it be that Brett Jackson is being used as a chip to try to bring a better return for Dempster or Garza? Brooks Raley should be the only option. OMG shut up about brooks raley. Why? When your clearly having a fire sale-and a damn good one I might add, the open roster spots should be given to guys who might be of use in the future. Raley may be no better than Randy Wells-and I mean 2012 Randy Wells, but unlike the other options, he's yet to prove that he's crap. They are not going to use up another 40 man roster spot until all the deals are done and they are sure they won't need it. Coleman is fine for a spot start.
  6. Harang getting lit up. Make it Webster AND Lee, Mr. Coletti.
  7. Um, Ok? What a homophobe. He just doesn't want to be on a team again with Ryan Theriot. Can't say I blame him.
  8. Really? They couldn't even get Gilmartin? This is Maholm and Johnson we're talking about. You know, Johnson, the guy that caused mass panic around here when Theo signed him for a million bucks this offseason.
  9. He is batting so probably just wishful thinking by the rest of the team.
  10. Imagine what Rangers fans will think when they see Soto's stats.
  11. No one was hugging Garza so if so they all must be glad to see him go.
  12. Yeah Jon, my question is why you don't know any of this stuff before it actually happens.
  13. Bench for LaHair, I would guess. or 4th of for him. He could play against righties, filling in for any of the others, and first when Rizzo gets a day off. He could still probably play 4 days a week. Probably a better role for him anyway.
  14. I don't know why people would ask Miles when really his guess isn't going to be any better on this any educated fan. You know the media isn't getting inside information from anyone in this front office.
  15. I've just had it in my mind Soto winds up in Tampa. Maybe for Niemann, who's still out, I think. Harmless exchange of players that don't have a future where they're at. The Rays aren't trading Niemann for Soto.
  16. it's totally normal because people didn't start making it to 40 with regularity until very recently, thanks in part to synthetics. You are correct that synthetics have played a role in lengthening the human lifespan, but not as big of a role as people like to think. Mostly just eliminating mass diseases/plagues. In general, antibiotics are WAY over-prescribed and also very harmful. Really, the reason that we live longer today is because of our infrastructure. Food is widely available and regulated. We don't have to go around hunting and eating/drinking whatever we happen to find that day (risking all sorts of diseases, etc). Also, we don't get eaten by bears and lions and stuff as much anymore. The bottom line is that people get things like cancer, Alzheimers, diabetes, autism, food allergies, etc at astronomically higher rates today than ever before. It's because of all the toxins we put into our bodies. Boy... now I'm really off topic. The toxins taste really good so I will take the chance.
  17. I think he's saying they won't get that kind of value from anyone else, which is kind of obvious. He also explicitly said the Cubs won't get Delgado himself in another tweet (not that he'd know). He most likely would have said the same thing a week ago.
  18. The Rangers' sights are set a lot higher than Dempster, and they have the ammo to get it done. If the Cubs have any chance at getting some of their talent, it'll be for Garza, which looks doubtful at this point. Garza could still be in play. Teams know what he is and the medicals are no big deal on him. A small amount of fluid in a muscle. Its not a shoulder or an elbow. If a team is motivated enough and their doctors clear him, Garza could still go. What will keep him on the team is if teams want some sort of noticeable discount because he had a cramp in his last start. Also, I'm sure the team could have a doctor examine Garza if they were that worried, no? I don't think the Rangers are in play for Garza anyway. They don't consider him elite and they are supposedly only willing to make a deal for an elite starter.
