Alternating QBs is just a bad idea altogether. I agree that it's a bad idea. However, even if they want to alternate QBs that was stupid because Ainge was settled. Fulmer's answer was to the point of "we chose to alternate". No offense, but winning games is more important than making sure you alternate quarterbacks.
