  1. ha ha, go Irish!
  2. The ERA from tonight didn't help the fantasy team, but the 10 K's, 1.2 WHIP and 18 K/9 were appreciated! :D
  3. Thanks. If the Jaxx couldn't keep their affiliation contract with the Cubs the move to Tennessee was what I was hoping for. There's no guarantee that the Jaxx will be in west Tennessee after the 2008 season. Whether the team stays or goes will be decided by the people that decide whether or not to support the team. Worst case scenario for me as a fan would be to totally lose the opportunity to be able to see the guys in the Minor League system. I still will get to see the AA guys when they visit Jackson (which will be really awkward) and there is a good chance that the relationship between the Cubs and Smokies will be a relationship that lasts for many years. It hurts to see this happen, but it could've been much worse.
  4. ha ha, good point. I wasn't sure if the Sun would even give mention of the affiliation change. Here's the official announcement from the Cubs:
  5. Thanks for all of the help Hosak, dinner is definitely on me. I can give you my contact information if you'd like to pass it on or I can call them to talk about the site. Either way is cool. I totally forgot your connections within the organization and should've already contacted you. From this article it looks like the Jaxx will be AA Arizona or San Diego in 2007.
  6. The Cubs need some Moore, Scott
  7. The coaching staff doesn't need anyone to point out how they have done. Their work speaks for itself.
  8. I'm sure they will do what they can to help us out. The good thing is that the Cubs AA will remain in the Southern League North, which means that they will make multiple trips to West Tennessee as long as the Jaxx remain in the SL. Great question!
  9. *sigh* The only silver lining for me is that the team will still be within driving distance. FWIW I love going to Gatlinburg and this will give me more of an excuse to get to the mountains more often. However, the AA team is now 260 mile away instead of 60. The Diamond Jaxx organization has been nothing short of fantastic for us here at NSBB and I am so appreciative for everything that the Jaxx have done with and for us over the years. I have gone to see the Jaxx and support the AA Cubs since 1998 and have loved every moment of it. My wife and I had dates there and continued going after getting married. It was awesome to get to take our baby to her first game at Pringles Park. I'm really sad to see what has happened but do understand that baseball is a business. I told Jeff a few weeks ago that I will do my part to help the organization in Jackson in 2007, even if they are not the AA affiliate of the Cubs. Hopefully we will be able to build a relationship with the Smokies in the 2007 season. If we can build a relationship with the Smokies that is a fraction of the relationship that the site has with the Jaxx we will be in great shape. The Jaxx have a great staff and a great group of people and I wish nothing but the best for them.
  10. Agreed. I really don't see what the attention is all about. It's not like Pete is making the estimated $1,000 per ball.
  11. That would be awesome! Did you leave a resume for future consideration? Maybe he can replace Bob Brenly if Brenly becomes the new Cubs' manager. :D Or Len if he becomes the new GM :D
  12. That would be awesome! Did you leave a resume for future consideration?
  13. Ryan had a great year with the Jaxx in 2005. Riot did have troubles early in his minor league career, but he has really had a great stride over 2005 & 2006, hitting .304 in 2005 in a tough league followed up by another .304 in AAA.
  14. Here's the official release from the Cubs:
  15. Agreed, good times!
  16. Get all of the staff away before they have a chance to hurt Gallagher and Veal.
  17. This case is strange is that Beckett value obviously had no effect of the price. Nothing against The Riot, but this is a case of someone overspending rather than being patient. They could have visited an ebay store and bought 12 of the same card for $6.00 more
  18. A card is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, especially when it comes to ebay. It's funny that someone was willing to drop over $4.00 for that card, especially considering what they have been selling for. A lot of 5 sold for $2.25 earlier. FWIW a lot of 75 sold for a little over $42 under a week ago.
  19. Agreed. What is amusing in this situation is that it's a fan protest that involves giving the team money by buying tickets.
  20. Agreed, pathetic.
