Mods, if this belongs in rants, feel free to move it there. YouTube Video ](*,) Where do I begin? "after that, the Cubs would be a bunch of overpaid hashes." . . . "So, be careful, once you win it, again, you're just a bunch of overpaid players." Here's the Chicago Cubs 2007 & Beyond Salaries thanks to Jazz. Overpaid hashes/players? Isnt that what they are now? "The Cubs would no longer be the darling." ... So what? "But do you know why the people like the Cubs? They don't win and #2, they love Wrigley Field. Wrigley Field reminds everybody of when times were more simple in baseball. " Sure, we love the Cubs because of Wrigley Field. You do remember it will still be there if/when the Cubs win? Did I miss a memo or something? And "They don't win." isn't a reason why we love our team. Oh, I'm sure the traffic on NSBB went through the roof when they didn't win for crap in 2006. Love was really in the air then. The main reason we love the Cubs is because we grew up watching them. Most of us can list childhood memories, and the Cubs will probably be in many of them. Now the longtime suffrage will probably make the potential Championship even sweeter... "I love Wrigley Field and I love Fenway Park, and I think that's one reason so many people love the Red Sox, and now the Red Sox are just another team. Nobody cares except those fanatics in New England down to the Hartford Line. " Again, so what? "All I'm saying to the Cubs, the lovable bubbling Cubs, if you win it all, next year you would be just another team in the National League." Another team in the National League with a ring on it's finger. Hopefully the middle finger just for you. "People won't be rooting for you. They will root for their own team and they won't even root for the Cubs as #2." I always thought, maybe its just me, a World Series would bring in more bandwagon fans. But if it makes them leave, thats even better. So by his specs, the organization should just give up. The players that worked their whole lives to get to the Majors should call it quits. The manager that stresses day and night over the club and finally has a good well-performing team should just hang up his hat. The same manager that will eventually sue the Cubs for his future ulcer? My god. And working with his specs, I'll gladly take a World Series ring to get rid of Bandwagon fans... and have the true Cubs fans show up. I doubt that will happen, but he suggests otherwise. Why not win a World Series and have the "Overpaid hashes" earn it? Another well thought out segment, ESPN. Keep it up. If you're gonna let anyone on your network talk about baseball, keep it limited to Peter Gammons.
