  1. Dan Wetzel details just how stupid Dan Beebe is. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news;_ylt=ArMqt05d_dbpJzLSJyD5ZAM5nYcB?slug=dw-expansion060610
  2. Yeah, if I'm a Mizzou fan, I'd be a lot less confident than I was a few weeks ago. Nebraska seems to be the Big 12 team the Big 10 really wants. YOu're still in a heckuva better position than KU. http://www.kansascity.com/2010/06/05/1995767/four-scenarios-for-the-big-12s.html The writer has a throwaway line wondering if KU would fit in the Big East if all the [expletive] hits the fan. Leaves KU as a geographical oddity, and it hurts their football, but other than travel, it wouldn't be terrible for their basketball. It'll never happen, but thought it was worth bringing up here. Really off the wall. I don't think it's that off-the-wall. Basically, KU's options will be a rejiggered MWC of joining a picked apart Big East. The Big East would have a little more cache, but it would be the death of the football program. The MWC would be a safer geographic fit, but it might be the death of both football and hoops for KU. Neither option really makes my pants tight.

  4. The fact that schools like Texas Tech, Okie State, and Baylor will get invites over KU is infuriating to me.
  5. Looking forward to watching KU clash with New Mexico State in a pivotal Mountain Who-the-F***-Cares Conference tilt.

  7. Even as we speak, the Jayhawks are making a last-minute comeback over UNI.
  8. On 810 radio station they are making it sound like this KU investigation could get pretty ugly. UK isn't the only one. that's wishful thinking on your part. The scandal is about employees ripping off the athletic department and, potentially, donors. there's a chance it could affect the staffing within the AD (namely Perkins). but there's no link to the teams/athletes, and it's not an NCAA violations issue. I don't know why you keep trying to portray it is if it were.
  9. Eric Bledsoe now being investigated, too. Could impact UK. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/29/sports/ncaabasketball/29recruit.html?hp
  10. here's hoping it's illinois[/fingerscrossed]
  11. Who gives a s**t about vacated wins. It's so meaningless. yeah, i guess you're right. national championships mean nothing the second after they're won. I'd be willing to bet that if Chalmers would've missed that three, those wins wouldn't have been taken away. Go to hell Mario Chalmers by the way. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/zoom_chalmers.jpg
  12. I hope not. There is almost no evidence that Beal is reconsidering. I know his family doesn't want him at UF, but he's been very solid on his commitment. I'd be surprised if he didn't take a long hard look at wherever Rivers winds up. Though, I guess the clock is ticking on signing day. I know Rivers is visiting other schools besides Duke, but is there really any chance he ends up anywhere else? I don't think so. And I don't think Beal ends up at Duke.

  14. I get the feeling Self is slow-playing Randle, but I'm not sure who he's stalling for. (Not that Randle would automatically commit if Self offered. But Self hasn't offered yet.) We're in on Josiah Turner, a PG out of CA. And we're in an Ben McLemore, a SG out of StL. But McLemore is 6'5" and would likely play the three, I think. So I'm not sure he and Randle would be redundant. Would Randle more likely be a point or a two if you had to define his position?
  15. Interesting. While you're here, how about a scouting report on Chasson Randle.
  16. Can anyone tell me about Chicago forward Sam Thompson?
  17. I'd get there 10 minutes before you and hand out envelopes detailing how YOU were going to hand out envelopes outlining everything that would happen. I would label the envelope, "Delicious Pot Pie Recipe."
  18. bubba trimmed the list to alabama, ND, Neb, and OU. Ouch. Kinda po'd Nebraska made it over us, but I get it.
  19. I just don't think "pressure to win" is a big factor for these superstar athletes. They probably pressure themselves to win more than any outside influence. And with guys like LeBron, Kobe, etc, there's going to be external pressure to win no matter where he goes. He brings the expectations with him. There's no hiding from it.
  20. If Z were as good as people claim, he wouldn't need to pitch in games to win them.
  21. Considering my mom is from MO, and pretty much her entire family still lives there, I think I have as much right to make fun as anyone. Don't worry, I think much more highly of those from Misery than I do of those from Minnesota. Besides, they did back out of a 4 game deal with Iowa at the last second. Less than 6 months before the first of those, IIRC. if you wanna make fun of people from missouri, try and be a little more creative than misery. it makes you look like a 10 year old. this coming from the people who think the ultimate burn is to leave the "K" lowercase in KU.
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_NBA_Playoffs#Eastern_Conference Game 3 @ Chicago: Detroit 101, Chicago 79 Game 4 @ Chicago: Detroit 96, Chicago 77 Exact same age as LeBron too. Were the Bulls the overwhelming favorites to win it all in '88? I can't remember. Furthermore it isn't that Jordan can't do any wrong, it's more that LeBron is just massively overrated. Kobe is the closest thing to Mike and LeBron is a guy who could maybe benefit by shooting a few thousand jumpers everyday because when he starts to age and lose his freakish athletic ability, I think his game is gonna fall off big time. Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. It seems like LeBron, with his size and strength, will be fine as he ages. He'll be able to post up other guards, much like Jordan learned to do.
  23. Keep in mind, Selby might be the only impact recruit we're adding, but we have a 5* center, a 5*PF, a 5* PG, and a 4* wing that we can add into the mix. And these are all guys who've played/practiced at the NCAA level, not high school kids who won't be used to college hoops. I think we'll be pretty good. We'll be more athletic on the perimeter which will hopefully translate to better perimeter D. We'll be better slashers but worse shooters. We'll also be much faster and athletic in the post. Our post D will suffer greatly though w/o Aldrich. Top 10-15 doesn't seem like a stretch to me. I think we'll be one of the more dangerous teams come tourney time. Especially if Releford can hit the three.
  24. Nebraska Chancellor says the report is bogus. http://my.journalstar.com/post/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog/perlman_report_untrue.html
  25. You have bigs you can throw it down to? They'll be thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin down low.
