  1. freakishly amazing ability to make quick outs. Astros pitchers have used about 100 pitches since Clemens left the game. Borkowski 4.0 IP, 41 pitches. edit - correction made.
  2. I didn't mind the zone until a couple innings ago when Guz started getting squeezed a little while the Astros zone got a little generous. I minded it when Clemens was getting gift wrapped calls waaaay earlier in the game. and suddenly that outside corner closes up once a Cub is on the mound. where was the first pitch to Ausmus? and Borkowski got that second pitch to Lane called a strike several times.

  5. yes, and everyone freaked about about repeating it here. as you will see by the time I hit the submit button
  6. in extra innings three base runners, two double plays.
  7. might as well look at it Jacque, you haven't hit it all year.
  8. magic 8 ball sez try to find the golden egg twice in one night and waste another ball with another pitch out. nice splitter Demp.
  9. It would lower the chance of scoring a run this inning. Compared to letting Z hit? The OBP of a batter has to be pretty low to justify bunting a runner from first to second with no outs. With one out, the OBP threshold is even lower. Z's OBP is pretty bad this year, but it's a small sample size. I think letting Z hit there was the right call, results notwithstanding. And Z knows this park, dude. how low? it's Z, but his career OBP is still .240 going into this year. the guy following is arguably your best hitter. get the guy to second and take a chance of Aram knocking him in there.
  10. It would lower the chance of scoring a run this inning. Agreed. doesn't use a pitcher to bunt a guy to second with one out, but uses a guy with three hits on the night to bunt a guy to second with no outs. oh magical 8 ball, what should I do next?
  11. didn't mind the ump at all til the last 6 batters or so.
  12. this where he pulls a back muscle, out for the season? I don't think I would mind to avoid the abuse from here on out.
  13. That probably would have cleared Wrigley's LF wall but it would have hooked well foul long before reaching the pole anywhere else. I wouldn't have even been nervous anywhere else because nowhere else say "315" down the lf line. sort of the way the only place you are nervous of jerk balls by lefties is Fenway and Pesky's pole
  14. barely missed another opportunity for me to say this park sucks.
  15. gotta be a career personal high for assists in a game for him
  16. how about balls it 318 feet turning into a game changing triple?
  17. I was out of the room and didn't see it. chances are I would have cursed luck if the hit were lucky, not Novoa.
  18. not to mention that both benches are under warning, so any beanball results in an ejection...again the stupidity of the arbitrary warning system.
  19. What's that bring his total on the year to? Three? Lol..actually 27, but it feels like 3. Izturis has had a good game, but he really ruined that inning for us. Dusty Baker ruined that inning for us. let Pierre steal the damn base if you want to play small ball and sac him to third if need be.
  20. the swing specifically designed to hit into a routine 6-4-3 why even take that swing at a 1-0 pitch? if you can't drive the pitch, just look at it.
  21. I've been advocating it for a couple months now. they like offensively challenged shortstops and he have them a plenty. I'd give them their choice of Izturis or Cedeno and their pick of one of our starters and a bullpen arm. In fact, I'd give up Pie plus another prospect/Izturis/Cedeno too. DeJesus just signed a contract extension this past March. He is signed through 2011 (actually club option for 2011) The Royals now have a good GM in Dayton Moore. I don't think they'll be giving players away. I don't think either of the deals I listed would be giving away. they aren't winning until 2011, so a nice package could land him. I'd be willing to sweeten either deal to get him. maybe Pie and 2 starters if they took Izturis. Whoops. To clarify, I was referring to the post before yours written by DisgruntledCubsFan. It is in bold what I was referring to. I saw your bold afterwards and thought that might be the case.
  22. I was at the back to back walk off game. good times. the double switch was the culmination of really bad ball strike calls. I was in the bleachers (the guy in front of me got Hollandsworths HR ball) and we had no idea what happened, so it was litter the field time, more due to being fed up with the bad ball/strike calls. I was incredulous that Miley was complaining because the Cubs were getting absolutely hosed.
