  1. predictable Hawk reaction? 'ground ball with eyes?' if Fields had any range he gets to that ball, so suck it up Hawk.
  2. Hill had periods of total shakiness and periods of total dominance. Marshall was consisently spotting well. overall, I think Hill probably has to get the nod as the defense did alot to bail Marshall out today. but overall a really tough comparison.
  3. I wonder if the national analysts/commentators will stop talking about what a waste it was for the Cubs to pay him 136 million to play this year it's looking good right now, but it was a waste.
  4. and because ESPN doesn't seem to mind when a routine play is turned into a spectacular play by the fielder, that should round out tonights Top 5 webgems.
  5. why do umps always break up Cub mound meetings so quickly? there was nothing extraordinary about the amount of time Hill was at the mound before CB started on the march out there. geez Angel.
  6. isn't the IE in Koyie kind of superfluous? you end up with the same pronounciation whether it is spelled Koy or Koyie.
  7. an all Cubs Webgems tonight? so far there is that throw and block of the plate one great and one nice play by Izzy great play on a bad hop by Font DLee's block and Marshall's cover.
  8. if there is anything to this, Smoltz needs to realize that not everyone has the superhuman ability to deal with pain that he does.
  9. I had no idea Wisconsin was ranked so high in the pre-season by the publications. obviously I don't follow it as closely as many others. then again, these publications are generally not the idiots that vote in the various polls. I think they had another year where they got pre-season props, and they promptly laid an egg.
  10. Steve McMichael I was at the Reds/double switch game, sitting in the bleachers. we didn't have a clue what was going on. if I am not mistaken, that is the only time Dusty was ever ejected for arguing during his tenure as Cubs manager, and you will note it was not sticking up for his players. great game. Sosa-Alou back to back to win it. next day, the zone became the size of a teacup for Kerry Wood around the eighth inning costing the Cubs the ballgame. he received the same suspension arguing the strikezone that Chris Young got for throwing pitches and fists at another players head.
  11. same old same old. Badgers will be severely underrated to begin the season, will win 9-10 games, end up second or third in the Big Ten, be severe underdogs in a good bowl, then win their bowl game. I think they will get very high in the rankings despite their pre-season underrating, work their way up to top 7 or so, then suffer two tight losses against UM and OSU which will unjustifiably plummet their ranking to the 20's, while refusal to run up scores against the patsies on their schedule will kill their BCS ranking again.
  12. why would a team not throw at Soriano at this point. it always seems to work out for the best.
  13. jjgman21 has stated both privately and publicly that Paul Sullivan is a douche. probably translation - Sullivan is reporting a tongue in cheek statement by Carlos as the truth, and reporting unsubstantiated quotes about Carlos to stir the pot. we already have Bruce clearing up some of his nonsense on here regarding Barrett. this is just Paul making up his next storyline.
  14. OK, but where did you get this info? it's speculation, but Kevin Towers is Kevin Towers and Bob Watson is Bob Watson.
  15. Agreed. The first time I saw that, a chill ran down my spine. It's just too soon... the scars have not healed. from the gamelog With Jovan Rosa batting, Sean McCauley picks off Nelson Perez at 1st on throw to David Wood. Nelson Perez strikes out swinging. Jovan Rosa singles on a fly ball to right fielder Astin Jacobo. Luke Sommer scores. Carlos Perez out at home on the throw, right fielder Astin Jacobo to catcher Salvador Perez. Nelson Perez to 2nd. Nelson Perez strikes out swinging. be afraid. be very afraid.
