  1. Lose the battle win the war; get the series. Let's hope so---one more complaint and I know this is a stretch but after watching the play on Theriot at the plate several times--the catcher NEVER tags him. They bump sides, but he never tags him. Again, i am not saying a guy would make that call, but technically he should have been safe. And say what you want--that is just the type of thing they would call somone like barrett for. this was discussed at length in the thread. you are wrong. NY says so. and incidentally that exact call was made on the play in which Chipper was injured just a few weeks ago.
  2. love the Yahoo headline on the story. "Lee's punch sparks Cubs-Padres brawl" I guess thats true if Soriano walking to first was some wadded up paper, Peavey's comments were some kindling, Young's beaning was the firewood, and if true his epitaths were about two gallons of gasoline.
  3. here's the thing about the Cubs past four losses. they are all games they should have won and in all of them the umps played a huge part. it's difficult enough overcoming the opposition, having to overcome the umps makes it just too damn difficult to win against good major league teams.
  4. You ever faced a big league hook? You ever seen one analyzed on a high-speed camera? I must have missed it.....did they show that pitch on a high speed camera replay? Huh. No, but lots of other curveballs have. And they don't bend as much as they appear to the naked eye, and they certainly don't do most of their bending in the last foot and a half. The appearance that it crosses the front of the plate at the knees and is ankle-high at the catcher's mitt is an optical illusion. I suggest you watch Roy Halladay's performance yesterday.
  5. it's everything I can take to not throw a chair throught the wall right now.
  6. hmmm. why would the catcher be calling for pitches on the outside corner against a lefty? maybe because the ump has called it a strike all day.
  7. let's see where those same pitches are now. come to think of it, the second one was called a strike for Heath Bell at least twice just this past inning. it set up K. Hill's K.
  8. second was a strike earlier in the game. first one was in no way whatsoever a ball. just as good as the pitch Pie was rung up on earlier.
  9. this Heath Bell has absolutely dominated us this year. another nice play by Z.
  10. been alot longer since we were no-hit than since we've thrown one. I'm fine with continuing that trend, as long as both hold true. (sorry Doc Gooden. was your home scorekeeper) there was one tuesday nite i saw the end of huh?
  11. How many has he thrown? need to pinch hit for him. but I suppose it is Z.

  13. fantastic job by Z. that's probably it for him. get him a couple runs here offense. Z doing alot of pitching lately. not just throwing dominantly, actaul pitching.
  14. now win the damn game. get out of it Z.
  15. I'm pretty sure that pitch was pretty close to Lee's wrist and I'm pretty sure he missed most of the year last year with a broken wrist so the sensible thing to do is throw a haymaker with the same wrist. Umm, how does that work? Lee punched with his right hand. I admitted my mistake. others should be so big. Your admission came the post above mine, at the exact same time. I know. my comment was directed at two long time respecteds who came after me for ridiculous reasons in this thread.
  16. seriously, what the hell is he arguing about?

  19. I did and I am right. you're wrong, and I don't know why you persist, but whatever.
