  1. saw the one on WGN. watched several on YouTube. why is this missing? edit - come to think of it, where is Theriots suicide squeeze a month later
  2. Bob was awesome in the post season in 1998. I personally think it's great when broadcasters don't have a problem saying 'Javy Lopez is setting up with both feet outside the catchers box and his mitt at his chest. it doesn't matter if Glavine/Maddux hits the mitt, it's not a strike.'
  3. Froemming's crew? how shocking. I curse the thought, but something tells me Brucy's last year is going to include having a say in the Cubs playoff run this year.
  4. Yeah, and it's not like the umps haven't cost us a game or two over the course of the season. That's just baseball. lost in the Cubs good play of late is the two blown calls that seem to go against them every game. today it was Soto pegging Nady trying to steal and someone's swinging bunt that was thrown out at first by Ramirez. this doesn't even mention the generous outside corner Gorzelanny got several times.
  5. I love being right. Oh and LOL at Wisconsin struggling to beat Iowa at home. still big on the Big 10 bashing, but seems that Big East chatter has died down the past couple weeks. I love it when you're wrong. The Big 10 is horrible. Deal with it. Yes, Louisville sucked against Syracuse. They still have WVU and Rutgers and South Florida is looking like a very good team as well. I'm not going to excuse Louisville losing as the loss at home to Syracuse is probably the second worst loss of the year (UM to App State is No. 1). But the Big East was and still is a better conference than the Big 10. The Big East is terrible. You deal with it. Since you're sooooo proud of yourself for getting one right, can't you be big enough to admit you are wrong about one? what's next, South Florida gets dumped by UConn and then UConn becomes the new "legit" team that you prop up with this joke of a conference with? WVU does look good. now if only they would have to beat someone besides Rutgers so some of us outside your dream world could find out. you're so quick to point out the Big Ten schedule, exactly which of these victories am I supposed to be impressed by? Duke Maine Temple Western Michigan Marshall (x 2) Maryland East Carolina Southeast Missouri Oregon State Miami (OH) Buffalo Navy Norfolk State Elon Auburn UNC Murray State Midd Tenn Eastern Michigan Grambling
  6. He's got another 100 PA, 44 TB, 48 BB, 31 SB at an 86% success rate, etc. He's got him by 19 pts of OPS+. He's right in between Chipper (50.8) and Cabrera (47.6) at 48.4 btRuns which is more than double Ramirez' contributions (above the average anyway). He's much better with the glove than the two guys in his division this year. I think you just made my point. he's got better counting stats because he's been healthier. other than that, he has a slight edge in OPS, due almost exclusively to taking a few more walks. stealing bases does go toward being an offensive player, but it has nothing to do with how good of a hitter someone is.
  7. Dlee's approach is encouraging however.
  8. that first pitch being called a strike does not bode well for the rest of the game. there you go DeRo.
  9. I love being right. Oh and LOL at Wisconsin struggling to beat Iowa at home. still big on the Big 10 bashing, but seems that Big East chatter has died down the past couple weeks. I love it when you're wrong. Because Louisville lost? They lost to Kentucky, yes the team that just beat Arkansas in Arkansas, in the last second and may be the 5th to 7th best team in the BE. Their defense is terrible and they have to outscore teams. does this not seal that you are just a total BigEast homer and refuse to debate these issues legitimately? it's not because Louisville just lost to Kentucky, CuseCubFab69. it is because they just lost to a team that Iowa and Illinois wiped the floor with. the same team that you have declared terrible over and over the past few weeks, CuseCubFab69. it is because Pitt certainly can no longer be considered "legit." it is because their second best team struggled against a team that lost to Ball State and nearly lost to Duke. it is because Auburn is proving week after week that it is simply a terrible team, Oregon State is below average, and UNC's and Marshall's terribleness was never in question.
  10. the baseball gods are punishing the Brewers due to the sour grapes of some of their fans. was it worth it Brewer fans?
  11. This non-Cubs fan has noticed. He's definitely fighting an uphill battle with regards to the actual vote though. At the ASB, Rolen was somehow having a career year defensively and on pace to better Ramirez in UZR by 23 runs/150. Small sample size and Rolen's shoulder is messed up etc, but I'm curious to see how the final numbers look. David Wright has been a much better hitter this year, and unless Rolen just has ridiculous staying power with the voters, I bet he'll get it. Both Wright and Ramirez are much improved on defense. Using those same ASB numbers, they were about even on pace to be +11/12 runs above average. Pedro Feliz might be the best of the bunch but he won't ever hit enough I guess. He's not easily outhitting Manny this year, whoever said that. He has a .4 edge in BtRuns. And count me as someone else who had no idea they were cousins. Wright has not really been a "much better" hitter this year. he's taken a few more walks and stolen bases. all the talk of the MVP candidates is it will come down to Holliday, Rollins, Wright, and Fielder. Holliday and Fielder, I can understand. they deserve to be there. but Wright isn't even the best third baseman in his division, unless you are enamored with stolen bases. in all honesty, I would put him third, behind Miggy and Chipper. Rollins is the third or fourth most valuable player on his team, yet he is spoken of like he's the third or fourth most valuable player in the league. in other words, the media selection of who the 'finalists' are is completely random. I think the formula comes down to: 1. someone from a NY team 2. someone from another east coast team in order to stir east coast debate 3. someone from a west division team in order to stir east coast v. west coast debate 4. a dark horse from a competitive team to make themselves look insightful (conveniently they are able to narrow their group to 4 since Holliday fills two of these rolls) 5. the player who actually deserves it. what was hilarious about last years AL voting is the contestant from catagory 4 won.
  12. that's just ridiculous. Ike was looking for the ball the entire way with no hand play on his part whatsoever. look at the replay, and ask yourself this question..."why did he go for the ball with only one hand?" the answer of course is the other hand was full of jersey pulling Ike to the ground. Yeah I know that's why he only used one hand. I didn't deny that DJK was making contact. You're right, I just watched it again and I was wrong about him not looking for the ball. I still think there was contact each way though. Ikegwonu was leaning his body into him and his right hand was in there. DJK definitely pulled him down more than I thought live last night though. Could have been called but it was probably tough to see from the angle. You don't see much offensive PI called unless there's a two-handed pushoff. They did let them play all night though, only 8 total penalties. The only call against Iowa I had a gripe with was the pass interference on Dalton late but that was still a stupid play. any 'lean' Ike made was because he had perfect coverage and had just as much right to the ball as the receiver. I had some problems with the non-calls. all the blocks in the back as Iowa's QB ran for his life that were not called. the three flagrant facemasks by Iowa in the second half, and the only one called going for five yards (not that it mattered inside the ten, but it's a matter of principal)...while the blitzing WI DB got called for the exact same infraction. as for the Dalton penalty play, they never showed the replay well enough, but I think the Wisconsin receiver may have made a great grasstop catch on that ball. call me goofy, but grabbing a handful of jersey to twist a pass defender to the ground, regardless of a little hand play and bumping, should be called offensive pass interference. as for the two handed push off theory....any comments on that Truff? edit - I'm not really bitching at you. very sporting to concede your point like that.

  15. you know, I like South Florida. I think they are an up and coming team that probably is deserving of their ranking. but why has everything that has been said about their game in the articles and on the tv tonight about today's win as 'validating?' it was UNC. they are terrible.
  16. hey, they finally call Iowa's third blatant face mask this half...and called it a five yarder.
  17. it is now official. receivers can do anything they want to the dbs in the Big 10 and nothing will be called. great catch, but about as blatant of pass interference as it gets.
  18. Why should OU jump LSU. True LSU only won by 12, but they were playing the #12 team in the country. OU is impressive. But they beat up on Tulsa. Tulsa isn't a bad team, but keep in mind that ULM was leading Tulsa at the half before Tulsa ended up winning that game. OU should have demolished Tulsa. well SC had absolutely no business being #12. that's merely a function of being an SEC team who has an early win against another SEC team, and Spurrier being their coach. if I were a gambler, I would bet Miami over So. Car. in a heartbeat. but it's mostly about how impressive OU has been.
  19. it would be absurd if Nebraska stayed ranked and OU didn't jump over at least Florida, if not LSU too. of course none of those things will happen, demonstrating said absurdity.
  20. what's a game like this going to do for their confidence there Joe?
  21. but i guess the receiver is allowed to touch the defensive back while the ball is in the air you didn't read my entire post. apology accepted, I guess. :?: my point was that it was a horrible call. I'm not sure what your post had to do with that. I don't know how you don't understand that I was agreeing with your point.

  23. Michigan has overcome their second biggest problem, Chad Henne. they'll have to wait to get blown out in another bowl until their #1 problem goes away. the entire conference needs to learn how to play defense against the spread offenses.
