  1. the browns need to just start rushing 7 every play; their front 4 is clearly not going to get the job done.
  2. they have the two best records in the national league, so they're clearly not trying hard enough at sucking.
  3. twice in 130 years of major league baseball. Out of curiosity, which ones? 1969 Cubs, 2007 Mets? 1969 cubs were 6th. here's the list: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6764
  4. twice in 130 years of major league baseball. Out of curiosity, which ones? i was wrong, there have been three, since the mets blew it last year. 1951 brooklyn dodgers were a 1-in-384 shot at missing the playoffs. 2007 mets were a 1-in-500 shot at missing the playoffs. 1995 california angels were 1-in-8,336 shot at missing the playoffs.
  5. twice in 130 years of major league baseball.
  6. wait so the bengals lost to a team with joe flacco, le'ron mcclain and ray rice as their weapons at qb and rb? great start to the year.
  7. plus every game that marquis starts or the cubs are facing a good pitcher is an automatic loss, so the magic number is up to 35 now.
  8. if you're one of the people in the "who's more irrational" discussion, as a rule of thumb, you should probably just assume that it's you.
  9. I'm just guessing but it's probably because Ryan Theriot has outperformed Ronny Cedeno at the major league level. Just a guess... If Theriot is just short of terrible, that makes Cedeno what - far short of terrible then? This is not a difficult argument. Ryan Theriot is a below average baseball player - we all know that. However, he is the best shortstop the Cubs have and better than Cedeno. No, it makes Cedeno a pretty unknown quantity whose floor is Ryan Theriot's ceiling. wait i can't tell if this is a joke or people actually still believe this.
  10. you're not stupid, just irrational after tough losses. I know I'm being irrational. That's why I'm asking you, no one is worried that we've very quickly knocked off over a third of our lead in a week, and we are going to be playing a really really difficult schedule over the last 19 games? i am. the 99.whatever% is b.s., just like the cubs being so heavily favored vs the dbacks last post-season was b.s. the cubs weren't heavily favored against the d-bags. at best they were probably like 60% to win that series, and in reality it was probably about 50/50. this is 99/1. not even close to being similar situations.
  11. Should be 15 actually we shouldn't have won that game against the rockies back in may, so it should be 16.
  12. that move is looking better and better...
  13. rawaction looked really good at WR for the eagles.
  14. you're not stupid, just irrational after tough losses.
  15. thankfully this awful season will be over in 3 weeks.
  16. breaking news, cedeno is still bad at life.
  17. seriously, who is the best team in the big east? that's definitely going to be the tallest midget. It is down right now but the difference with the BE and the other BCS conferences is that a BE team will travel to a non BCS team while the others will not. WVU lost at ECU, USF went to UCF and won in OT in an emotional end of a series game. texas went to utep, minnesota went to bowling green, aTm went to new mexico, arkansas went to la-monroe, maryland went to middle tennessee st., texas tech went to nevada. that's 3 big east teams, 1 sec team, 1 big ten team and 1 acc team. last week va tech, mississippi st and boston college did it. next week ucla, arizona and wisconsin are doing it. so i'd say that whatever point you were trying to make isn't a good one.
  18. i guess badnews also predicted that derosa would have a career year at age 33? kudos for that, pal. if derosa had performed at his 2006-07 levels - which were still pretty good - brian roberts would have represented a significant upgrade at 2B.
  19. well his babip has been .247 in june, .230 in july and .265 in august, so i'd say his luck has more than evened out. but yeah, he's really not that bad.
  20. if either the game at syracuse or at home against temple are competitive, there's a problem. clark looks pretty good as far as making the right decisions, which nobody would ever say about morelli. we shouldn't lose more than 3 games this year, and if we can't beat michigan this year, i'm pretty sure it will never happen. Agreed. Clark so far has made better decisions, been more accurate, and has the wheels to run for the first down/TD himself. We should finish with a better record than the last 2 years but we'll have to see. i'd say the following games are games that psu definitely should win: @syracuse, vs temple, vs michigan (i know we never beat them, but we're just better than them this year and it's a home game), vs indiana, vs michigan state. -- that's 7 wins should lose: @ohio state so that's 7-1. the other games - vs illinois, @purdont, @wisconsin, @iowa. i think all those games are winnable but it's more likely that psu wins 2 or 3. wisconsin is beatable if you force the qb to beat you, but since half of the defensive line is either pugilistic or high, we're pretty thin up there, and i could see wisconsin just pounding the ball and wearing psu down. i think you just have to put 8/9 in the box and try to get enough pressure on evridge that he makes some bad throws. illinois will likely be high scoring but i think we should win that one as well. i don't have a good feel on purdont or iowa; i think purdont is better and that game might be a little tougher.
  21. seriously, who is the best team in the big east? that's definitely going to be the tallest midget. I'm hoping there is a 4 way tie at the end of the year, all with 4-3 conference records BigTen 1990 Illinois 6-2 Iowa 6-2 Michigan 6-2 Michigan State 6-2 doesn't the big ten use "team that's gone the longest time since winning a big ten title" as the tiebreaker in these situations? if so, how idiotic.
  22. maybe this should fall under "dumb personal moves," but i went to check one of my fantasy teams and there starting at wide receiver is c. ocho cinco. i almost fell out of my chair laughing. it's one thing to hear that he changed his name, but another thing to see it on a fantasy football roster.
  23. seriously, who is the best team in the big east? that's definitely going to be the tallest midget.
  24. What the...? All game all he's talked about is how awful the Cubs fans are (pointing out anytime something was booed) and how they're going to beat up on Marshall tomorrow. Really a chore to listen to. too damn bad. the cub fans there are helping the reds pay their players. be glad that we're supporting your sad-sack organization and shut the hell up.
  25. should've just left wuertz in; i'm pretty sure he could give up a grand slam too.
