  1. i do have some concern that he follows the ronny cedeno career path - middle infielder with fairly good pop and defensive tools, but careless mistakes and no plate discipline. but i'll say that castro is a year younger at A+ and doesn't have the contact issues that ronny had for much of his minor league career.
  2. well your boy marmol gave up 2 runs and only got 1 out, so if he'd been closing in a situation like what gregg had against the tigers, he would've had a blown save. in fact, he needed sean marshall to bail him out of a bases loaded situation or else he might have blown a 3 run lead.
  3. no, but since you're considering production per dollar, you're pretty much guaranteeing that a team like the cubs or yankees or red sox (whoever f***s up the worst) is going to have the worst outfield in baseball. the cubs are part of a small group of teams that could qualify for your definition of worst outfield.
  4. yeah it's paul sullivan, ignore it.
  5. This guy almost has to be a lock for a top 100 right? He's young for his league, he has tremendous tools and his bat is performing already. he doesn't have much power or patience and his defense (while they like his tools) is inconsistent. i liked him a lot coming into this year and am very happy with how he's performed, but i don't know that he's a lock for top 100.
  6. i think we did a little bit, although the first rounders are late first round picks and joffrey lupul had to go away (salary). i'm disappointed that sbisa is going; i think he'll be a solid player. we did need a top defenseman though.
  7. maybe it's good for the players to think about something other than how terribly they're playing.
  8. so today's cubs game starts in 4 hours, what the dillyo.
  9. You aren't getting it. The card is administered by your state. States can say it's okay. It doesn't matter. The Federal government still considers it illegal. You could have a personally signed piece of parchment from the governor of your state, with permission to own as much cannabis as you want for whatever reason outlined in beautiful calligraphy. It doesn't matter. It's illegal at the federal level. who cares? slavery used to be legal too, and it used to be illegal for blacks and women to vote. just because something is illegal or the government classifies it a certain way doesn't mean the government is right or knows what the hell it is doing.
  10. that's untrue. i care about plenty of things; however, what a baseball player does at his home during the offseason is not one of them, especially if he's just getting high. i don't think it affects his performance and i don't consider smoking weed to be a big deal. i'd rather that a baseball player get high during the offseason than, say, go out drinking frequently during the regular season, which is something that a lot of ballplayers do. well then your confidence is unwarranted, because i have never smoked weed in my life.
  11. I don't think it's a big deal either, in the right context. Unfortunately for Geo, he's not in the same context as you or I. He's held to a higher standard, higher responsibilities, and he messed up. It kind of bothers me no one on this board seems to care. it bothers me that you have your panties in a bunch over this.
  12. the guy is 26 years old. chances are he didn't just discover pot during the offseason.
  13. oh i thought you were talking about the worst outfield in baseball, not the worst outfield in baseball per dollar. What's the difference? A cheap outfield is not the worst because you aren't locked into bad contracts with bad performance. Those players can be jettisoned. well then it's not surprising that you create the worst outfield in baseball for $40 million, because all you need is a couple of guys to underperform. in fact, low-payroll teams are basically assured of not having the worst outfield in baseball by your standard, so you're probably confining the number of teams that could possibly have the worst outfield in baseball to about 10 with high payrolls. at least a coupe of them is bound to make some bad commitments and be named arnold layne's Worst Outfield in Baseball.
  14. oh i thought you were talking about the worst outfield in baseball, not the worst outfield in baseball per dollar. mostly because that's what you were talking about.
  15. analyst mentions white guy with floppy hair was teammate of ricky rubio. 30 seconds later, stuart scott: "had a pretty good teammate over there... guy by the name of ricky rubio"
  16. did you guys know stu scott went to UNC?
  17. i can't listen to vitale. WE GET IT YOU LIKE COLLEGE BASKETBALL. by the way, if all he judges guys on is college production he'd be horrendous in the draft.
  18. yeah but defense doesn't translate to the nba if you're a lazy fatass; if you can't get off the couch without gasping for breath then you're probably not going to guard an nba power forward.
  19. blair going to the spurs reminds me of when zach parise fell to the devils in the NHL draft. all the analysts fell over themselves talking about what a great organization the devils have. that may be true, but in that case they sat there while a bunch of stupid teams pass up a guy who (seemingly) everyone knew would be really good.
  20. Carlos Boozer part 2. baxter, traylor, o miller take your pick. none of those guys rebounded as well as blair. he might be big, but he supposedly has an excellent work ethic, which i wouldn't say about traylor or miller.
  21. hahaha i love that the spurs basically bolted to the podium to get blair's name in.
  22. dajuan blair is going to be one of those guys that everyone thinks should have gone higher, then he has a nice nba career, and people wonder how the hell he got deep into the second round.
  23. this is insane. i cannot believe that blair is still on the board - there are a ton of teams that need a big body and a rebounder. he must have killed a prostitute last night or something.
  24. what the hell kind of name is "gar"
  25. lol were they just talking about darko as a real basketball player?
