  1. Just saw that Szczur left with hamstring tightness. Was Murton PH for early in the Iowa game in case he needs to be called up to the big club?
  2. Jeez, does he have IBS or something? Also, it's kind of funny that he left immediately after getting a hit, not at a half inning or whatever. Wonder if he horsefeathers himself running to first base.
  3. what kind of stuff does spencer patton have? his k rate coming into this season was north of 12 per 9 innings and he's struck out 16 in 9 innings this year.
  4. And traded 2 picks in the top 4 rounds to move up. that is not quality use of one's resources, to put it mildly.
  5. yeah, this game is not happening, unless they move first pitch forward to like 8am.
  6. some guy named adam conley (marlins) has a no hitter in the 8th inning against the brewers. but he's walked 4 guys and is on 116 pitches, so mattingly is pulling him with 4 outs left to get the no-no. seems prudent.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] hopefully just a hemorrhoid flare up.
  8. okay so maybe it's arguable; what's not arguable is that almora hasn't gotten an offensive boost from playing in iowa, round rock and new orleans this year.
  9. first of all, the california league is obviously the most hitter-friendly league in baseball. second, the reason that the PCL is hitter-friendly is because of all the teams based at higher altitudes. iowa hasn't played in any of those parks yet. they've played mostly in iowa (pretty neutral run environment), plus a couple of games in round rock (generally pretty neutral) and new orleans (generally run-suppressing). so the fact that the PCL tends to be hitter-friendly has zero bearing on what almora has done so far this year.
  10. It's the 2016 Cubs. Everybody is good.
  11. the phillies are over .500, which i don't think anybody really expected this far into the season. also, the astros have one of the worst records in baseball, which is weird. their pitching has been a dumpster fire so far.
  12. milb talked to albert almora about his start to the season at iowa, as well as USA baseball. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20160428&content_id=175078526&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&tcid=tw_article_175078526 skip ahead to 20:35 in the podcast.
  13. almora 3-5 with his third dong of the year. hitting .362. willson contreras went hitless, which is okay because he walked four times. carls edwards jr pitched a walkless, scoreless inning.
  14. i feel like every time i look at a box score hannemann went 3-4 with an extra base hit and at least one stolen base, but then he's hitting .230. apparently this means that i never look at the tennessee box scores when he goes 0-4.
  15. justin steele seems alarmingly hittable so far this year.
  16. i think i speak for everyone when i express my excitement about the beginning of the tim federowicz era.
  17. the alternative to hendricks nibbling is hendricks throwing batting practice.
  18. guessing the d-backs are not thrilled with their ROI from greinke so far.
  19. this spencer patton chap strikes out a lot of batsmen.
  20. seth maness strangely struggling to miss bats with his 88 mph heater.
  21. i'm glad that the cubs are so good that inexplicable events like hazelbaker donging all the time and almedys diaz becoming the best hitter in baseball are nothing more than minor annoyances.
  22. He's not been good in the field though. not quite bad enough to offset the highest wOBA in baseball.
