  1. rigs is going to have a nice suspension coming:
  2. what's with the indignation of the marlins' announcers? saying that his teammates can thank him for everything that just happened? if the other team keeps throwing at you what the hell are you supposed to do, just stand there until you get drilled by a 90+ heater? F that i'm gonna fight.
  3. man that was a blind-side hit an nfl player would be proud of. for a few seconds there it was about 8 on 1 with everyone beating the [expletive] out of morgan.
  4. lol iowa was down 13-6 going into the 9th inning and scored 9 runs: marquez smith hit .363/.425/.784/1.209 in august, including 12 home runs. with his homer tonight he has 13 hr in his last 28 games.
  5. dear brett jackson, please stop striking out so much. cheers, truffle
  6. on the bright side of jay jackson's outing tonight, he didn't pitch poorly in the 5th and 6th innings.
  7. daytona is playing a doubleheader. cabrera had a nice start in game one (7 ip, 5 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 6 k, 11 go/4 fo)
  8. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Ajr6WqwwpyQEEtHeDTlnma4RvLYF?slug=sh-priorcomeback090110 go mark go
  9. maybe they can have a best damn sports show period reunion. which, by the way, was a terrible show.
  10. is that all the time or just when the big club is horrendous?
  11. i was gonna use an add/drop, but i guess with a 6 HR lead it's best to keep my last transaction in case one of my guys gets hurt.
  12. boy it's a good thing these guys exist, or the cubs would have the worst bullpen in baseball: record: cubs 11-26, d-backs 13-27 ERA: cubs 5.15 (before getting drilled by the pirates tonight - 2nd worst), d-backs 5.92 (worst) WHIP: cubs 1.56 (2nd worst), d-backs 1.63 (worst) walks: cubs 198 (worst in baseball), d-backs 184 OBP against: cubs .353 (2nd worst in MLB), d-backs .368 (worst) SLG against: cubs .414 (only 10th worst), d-backs .454 (worst) OPS against: cubs .768 (6th worst), d-backs .822 (worst)
  13. after the pirates finish winning this game, they'll be 5-3 at wrigley this year. their road record against the rest of baseball is 9-49. way to go, cubs.
  14. damn looks like samardzija couldn't keep up that .237 babip forever archer had a pretty poor start and frank batista got drilled (4 hr). at least whitenack has been good.
  15. so if you put hitler, pol pot and stalin in a room, one is good, one is okay and one is bad.
  16. boise scored 7 in the 9th to overcome a 5-1 deficit. that's all i have to say about that.
  17. that's definitely not how the law of averages works
  18. lol yeah i screwed that one up pretty good
  19. Prospect Ratings by Baseball America: Pre-2003: Rated #48 Prospect Pre-2004: Rated #22 Prospect Pre-2005: Rated #67 Prospect Pre-2006: Rated #60 Prospect to be fair, he actually did hit for most of his minor league career, though i'm sure the california league, texas league and pacific coast league (salt lake city) helped quite a bit. he's also notable for infuriating fantasy owners of jeff mathis. generally i think mike scioscia is a good manager, but his adoration for mathis' defense is just absurd. even if he's the greatest defensive catcher of all time, there's no way that defense makes up the massive gap between his production and that of mathis. my favorite "hitter" of all time was tony pena jr. in 2008 he had just 235 PAs but managed to be 30 runs below average for a SS by putting up a wonderful .169/.189/.209/.398 line. anyone who can make ronny cedeno's 2006 look like babe ruth did something truly special.
  20. iowa hit 5 HRs in the first two innings... pretty much all by non-prospects, unless you consider brad snyder something other than AAAA material.
  21. that chen guy on the AZL cubs has been hitting pretty well lately... he has zero power but at least he seems to have a pretty good eye.
  22. bad line for carpenter: 6.2 ip, 11 h, 4 er, 2 bb, 3 k, 2 hr. bummer about the DSL cubs crapping out of the playoffs, but 3 game playoff series are kind of a joke anyway.
  23. there were a smattering of boos when the crowd realized he wasn't there to cook them tacos
