ah good, i was worried nobody was going to make a snide comment about those of us who are concerned about lee's lack of power. For the record, that's what, 1 in 20 games? Soriano's on pace for 0 HR this year. If Soriano were coming off a major wrist injury, I'd be worried about him too.
because he hit one home run? he's on pace for what, 7 or 8? uh, but he hit one in this game. That means we're being irrational. You're going to have a coronary if you don't stop taking what's said in Game Thread's seriously. thanks for your input!

a lot of scouts think he's already too big to play SS Wood is listed at 6'3". ARod is the same height and that didn't hurt him at all. Ripken Jr. was 6'4" and he was good for a while too. A lot of scouts in the Angels organization think Wood would be ML average at SS (defensively). I'll take their word as they seemingly know what they're doing over there. and a lot of scouts don't. I'm not sure if we'll ever settle the debate if Wood stays in the Angels' system.
Theriot for starting SS! You actually think Izturis is a better option? No. I think all our options suck. Z for Brandon Wood, please. Trading a top 3 pitcher in the NL for a single prospect, is a bad idea. I never meant that was the full trade idea, just that those were the necessary pieces. Izzy and Ronny aren't going to work out. Theriot is nothing special. At best he's a poor man's Freel. Z's due for a major arm injury in the near future. brandon wood will not be a shortstop in the major leagues
categories are: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, K, OPS, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB what do you think about waiting til Lopez gains 2B eligibility and then dropping Iguchi for Baldelli?
Here are a couple of free agents in a league that I'm in. I'm interested in both, but am not sure if it's worth dropping someone to grab them: RP Tom Gordon OF Rocco Baldelli My team: C Mike Piazza 1B Paul Konerko 2B Tad Iguchi 3B Bill Hall SS Hanley Ramirez OF Manny Ramirez OF Carlos Lee OF Alfonso Soriano OF Barry Bonds 1B/OF Nick Swisher SS (waiting for 2B eligibility) Felipe Lopez SP Daisuke SP Lackey RP K-Rod RP Brian Fuentes RP Dempster RP Jason Frasor SP Tim Hudson SP Aaron Harang SP Ervin Santana SP Chris Young Thoughts?
no kidding. The only thing that is keeping me from buying a Rich Hill jersey is the fact that the last thing I bought with a Cub's name on it was a Mark Prior shirt. He went down the crapper, and I'm afraid of doing the same thing to Rich.
I wonder how many people go to an 11:30 am AA game? Do they still serve beer at that hour? Enquiring minds want to know. The Altoona Curve occasionally have schoolkid's day games that start around 10:30 AM... and yes, they serve beer from the first pitch. I know from experience
OK, Eckstein (sort of) and Young. Two out of 30. Any others? What's your point? Theriot isn't like Young or Eckstein. He isn't a second basemen by trade like they were, he's a SS who was put at 2b for whatever reason. Since 2001, Theriot has played SS in 103 games in Class A ball and 86 games at SS in Class AA ball. He has played 2B in 117 games at A ball and 86 games at AA ball. My point simply is that moving a utility player with limited A and AA ball experience at SS to that position in the big leagues is not as easy as a lot of you guys are making it out to be. The last time I checked, the dimensions of the diamond are the same at every level of professional baseball, you're allowed to use the same equipment, and the baseball is made out of the same material. If a guy can play competent SS in the minors, he can do so in the big leagues.
btw, I am also a Twins fan... I was born in St. Paul and my best friend is a Twins fan. Even if the Cubs were a competent organization, I'd still root for the Twins.
