  1. Ryan Ludwick, the Cardinals AAAA no-name, no-talent player of the game. Who will it be tomorrow? Aaron Miles? Skip Schumaker? Troy Cafe? Tune in and find out!!!
  2. and there it is this is like the marathon pirates-cubs game earlier this year, where each team was blowing scoring chancse and even the umps started blowing calls left and right. I'd seen better fundamentals in little league games. But then again, there's a reason why all these teams suck.
  3. royals turn to blow a golden scoring opportunity.
  4. Why would trading Barrett allow them to find out how Hill was tipping pitches? Because the cubs played against Bowen and the Padres Sunday. If Hill was tipping his pitches, you better believe all the Padres hitters were told what to look for. That's a good point and something to consider. Did Rich have two really bad starts against the Padres? I saw him throw some pretty good pitches that were hit hard. And especially Cameron sitting on the curve to start his second AB the other day. That told me that the Padres were really seeing something, either in his delivery or pitch sequencing, that was letting them sit on a specific pitch. He left some throws up, but the Padres sat on the curve better than any other team this year. Hopefully someone is smart enough to ask Bowen what was going on (or Bowen will just stalk it over with his new pitcher).
  5. have the cardinals been playing the royals for like 2 straight weeks?
  6. the brewers aren't even THAT good. Don't complain about the fact that they win. The Cubs have the 12th worst record in baseball, they aren't a good team, and they have no business being anywhere close to the division lead. The Brewers are a mid-market team that has used astute trading and strong player development to build a good team; the large-market Cubs have made irresponsible management and player signings, and have been mediocre at player development. The Cubs have made their own crappy bed, and now they're lying in it.
  7. sammy used roids, so did most of the pitchers who threw to him, and most of the other players who were trying to hit HRs. Congrats on #600... I'll always be a fan.
  8. That would be crazy if true. I heard levine say this. Compared to what actually happened, well... I hate that I heard him say it. I've never even heard Bruce Levine, but from what I've read on message boards, I'd never believe any news that he "breaks"
  9. Well, Dylan Johnston is 2-3... that's a positive I guess. Otherwise, Boise is getting smoked 5-0; lousy start (3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) for Cabrera. And it's nice to see that Drew Rundle hasn't forgotten how to strike out during the past several months.
  10. gotta say the cubs earned this loss.... starter had poor location, bad fielding, inept hitting off a lousy starter... good job guys
  11. wrong guy at the plate... Punchless McSwingsateverything
  12. 2-3 for Cedeno... I think his BABIP the last two weeks is over 1.000
  13. I sometimes just sit here and smile as I come home and read through the pages after an eventful day for our cubbies. i always just think to myself--man, I wish this board could have been here to hear what people said when the cubs got a terrible prespect named Sandberg and terrible hitting shortstop for Ivan DeJesus Burke has been horrid in the minors so far - Sandberg was much better in the minors. Truth. Gotta love the baseball cube.
  14. They're not going to fire an owner for saying that... let alone, how does one fire a baseball owner anyway? But he's a moron, most of his team was probably on steroids... if you're going to be pissed that you got ripped off by Juan Gone, than also be pissed off that the thoroughly-juicy Rafael Palmeiro put up HoF-caliber numbers for your team. Or that Pudge enhanced his power numbers with roids. Can probably throw Dean Palmer in there too. And those are just the more obvious ones.
  15. I thought you were a Red Sox fan OMFG DUDE THAT WAS SO ORIGINAL IT GETS BETTER EVERY TIME YOU USE IT! hey, don't be a traitor and you won't get made fun of
  16. i forgot about that. I'd rather have that than what we got. Friggin read my posts... sorry i missed it in the 40+ pages of this thread #-o
  17. considering the topic of the rant, i'd say it was more yeti's penischild
  18. i forgot about that. I'd rather have that than what we got. But that involves the risk of offering arbitration and having Barrett back next year - the Cubs didn't seem like they were going to offer arbitration to him. I'm going to be uber pissed if Soto isn't called up. well, get ready to be uber pissed...
  19. i forgot about that. I'd rather have that than what we got.
  20. ugh, hendry said on the audio something along the lines of them being happy going forward with Bowen and Hill. He does mention Soto, but there's no sense that he'll be a part of this year's team. As usual bruce miles asked good questions. George Offman asked a good question about whether the Cubs got enough for Barrett. Jim Hendry isn't concerned about lack of offense - he's the only one, apparently. I do wish that someone would have asked a pointed question about Soto; i.e., where they see him this year and next year, and whether they consider him an option as a starter down the road.
  21. you might be right, but i'd still like to see some evidence that Tim Wilken liked him better as a pitcher than an outfielder.
  22. Based on??? my obviously correct opinion
  23. the Pads have a good team that is a contender to win the league. That'd be filling one hole but creating another. I doubt they had any interest in doing something like that; they're much more in a position to trade younger players who aren't making a big contribution to the big club.
