  1. bizarro line from chipper jones... 1 AB, 0 R, 1 H, 5 RBI
  2. fontenot definitely projects as a better hitter than Cedeno. I wouldn't do that at all. My opinion is that Fontenot is at least an average hitter for a second baseman. Let him play through his slump.
  3. all three writers who did top 50 rankings for the Baseball America Prospect Handbook disagreed with you after last season. Two didn't have him in their top 50.
  4. hard not to be hot when you're playing the dregs of the national league (washington, pittsburgh)
  5. In related news, Ronny Cedeno's July OPS at Iowa was .656
  6. I don't think most of them actually think that. Ive recieved 11 text messages from Cardinal fans since the game ended proclaiming" Cubs better watch their ass, cause we are on the move". I just responded that the Cubs always watch their ass around the Cardinals, Edmonds scares them :D you have too many friends who are cardinal fans
  7. boy i hope lilly pitches well, because i don't see us doing much off of hamels
  8. i can't contain my excitement that HENRY BLANCO hit a home run for peoria
  9. 2-2 with another RBI. Ridiculous. no home run yet? that's a bad game for him.
  10. one of the top pitchers is baseball? How about just the top pitcher in baseball. And no, the Twins aren't going to trade for a first baseman who doesn't hit for as much power and is making $10M per year, when they've got a younger player who's likely to be better over the next 4+ years.
  11. i'm still really confused as to why people are really concerned about one of the best rotations in the league.
  12. He's underrated as a hitter, unless you have a complete chubb for batting average. But there's really not a good place for him on the Cubs right now. Still, I think it's kinda dumb that he was released.
  13. are we trying to stockpile as many lousy-hitting outfielders as possible? If so, then this is a good idea.
  14. yeah his OBP is .356 mostly because his BABIP is .400. He's walked a little more 7.8% but his strikeout rate is still bad. I like the homers, but there's not much else to like about him as a prospect.
  15. solid day for dylan johnston... golden sombrero and two errors
  16. actually he's hitting .300
  17. matt wise pulled... gotta keep him fresh for the inning that he's going to pitch in each of the brewers next 60 games
  18. homer by soto. call. him. up.
  19. in other news, soto has homered again and his July OPS for Iowa is close to 1.300. but kendall probably bought himself another month of playing time by dinking a couple through the infield
  20. i guess that proves it... smallball wins games
  21. gotta move him along so that the light-hitting albert pujols can get him home with a single
  22. Matt Wise (who pitches every day) in for Crapuano
  23. Valentin probably just figured that Dempster couldn't throw a third strike in a row
  24. http://www.ofb.net/~epstein/sl/0405/20040514-dumpster-work.jpg
