  1. Ok EJ can I sig this?Seriously? Sure. I was drunk on Geo at the time. I've been drunk on Geo for months. Let the Soto Kool-Aid flow baby.
  2. And today the Pirates made some blunders too. But here's a common thread that runs through the teams mentioned - they're bad. Bad teams are bad for a reason. They'll get poor hitting, lousy pitching, and questionable coaching. I also note that he neglects to mention that the Astros' rally on 9/12 was started when a routine ground ball out to Lee deflected off first base and into right field.
  3. guess we want to make sure the brewers have some hope
  4. I'm not so sure. 2007- Dunn: 267/387/560 134 OPS+ Howard: 259/331/552 135 OPS+ Both are 27, so age isn't a factor. Career Dunn: 249/381/520 129 OPS+ Howard: 288/393/599 148 OPS+ Howard is a bit better over the career, but Dunn has played in more than double the games Howard has. Neither are great defensively. Both would be best served as a DH. I think the two are quite comparable and there's little to substantiate that Howard is that much if any better than Dunn. They're about even in VORP this year, but Howard has been banged up. Last year Howard had an 81.5 VORP, while Dunn's was 23.5. Howard's career EqA is .324, compared to .302 for Dunn. Howard's WARP3 was 9.5 last year and is 9.2 this year; Dunn's numbers were 5.0 and 6.3. Given that Howard's first full season was 2006 and he put up numbers that were far, far better than Adam Dunn in any season, I'd say it's pretty clear that he's the better player.
  5. 2-4 with a homer, walk, lineout to third, runner caught stealing. And he very nearly picked a guy off first with a perfect snap throw - Kendall sure as crap can't make that throw. .400/.447/.771 in 35 ABs with the big club, and I think we all know what kind of numbers he put up in Iowa.
  6. Alex Sanchez career line: .296/.330/.372/.702 Alex Sanchez vs Cubs: .338/.424/.378/.802 I guess it was only a .100 difference in OPS, but it really felt like he was on base all the time against us.
  7. monroe would've turned that into an inside-the-park homer
  8. hey nice defense by the bullpen catcher edit - he's better defensively than kendall
  9. he sucks. Terrible contract. yet another guy that jim hendry outbid himself to sign
  10. Agreed. There's no reason to use someone who we might need tomorrow or Sunday with a 6 run lead. in this weather a 6 run lead is more like 3
  11. okay you're allowed to let a lefty hit against a lefty pitcher lou
  12. If you're a righty, that's still impressive. Of course I got an infield single off Ricky Nolasco. In a playoff game. not impressed
  13. Agreed he's not staying down on the ball very well... not sure if he's got leg issues or if he's just starting to slide. He's still excellent at picking balls out of the dirt.
  14. hey when the ump gives a gift 3rd strike, i'll take it however he wants to do it
  15. i don't think you'll get too much flack for this
  16. the crowd reaction to soto's homer was funny, there was the initial "oooh aaah" that you always hear on a fly ball, followed by some quieting when people thought he got under it too much, then the roar when it settled into the 2nd row of the bleachers. On days like today, Soto HAS to start. Kendall does not elevate the ball the way that Soto does; starting Kendall with the wind blowing in is not quite as big a deal, but with it blowing out you need guys who have the potential to put the ball over the fence.
  17. yeah they can also talk about the b.s. run the pirates got from maholm's screwed-up bunt, and the two balls that derosa hit on the screws last at bat (one missing the line by inches, the other right at kata)
