  1. I disliked their roles and not them. ditto. both are solid bench players. oh, and i'd like to add Dusty Baker, Tony LaRussa, and ARod to my list. Actually, I don't even think Macias is a solid bench player. He really has no business even being in the majors. The Cubs pay him nearly a $1 mil/year to suck. So yes, I hate him.
  2. Didn't Hendry have interest in Belliard last year? Walker for Belliard wouldn't surprise me, although it's kind of pointless.
  3. Why is anyone surprised by this? I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that Hendry lets Dusty put together the bench.
  4. Lee + Hill for Wilkerson and Johnson Johnson to the Rockies for Helton Sign Giles wilkerson, cf murton, lf helton, 1b giles, rf aram, 3b barrett, c walker, 2b cedeno, ss Ofcourse, it only makes sense if the Nats are willing to give Lee an extension. Not sure if they have the money to do that though.
  5. Demand a trade to the Cubs, Alex. You can gamble all you want. I don't mind.
  6. Poor Cards. $92 mil just doesn't go as far as it used to.
  7. I'd take that risk at SS. At any other position, I probably wouldn't. Since it's so hard to find good offensive shortstops, I don't see any reason to not bring him back unless he wants more than 1 year.
  8. How about getting Drew and putting him in CF, and sign Giles?
  9. Walker in Shea? Think about it. If the Mets make a move to get Carlos Delgado, they might be willing to trade Cliff Floyd. Trading Floyd's $6.5M for Walker's $2.5M makes sense for both clubs on several levels. Floyd plays LF not 1B. My point is that they might feel the need to dump a salary to bring on Delgado. Well then who do they put in LF on the cheap? Diaz?
  10. Does Wood actually expect to be playing for the Cubs after next season anyway? The only way he comes back is if he has a really awesome season and is willing to take a big discount. Unless he plans on signing with the White Sox, I don't see him playing in Chicago. So the NTC is kind of a moot point. It's like "should I move this offseason or next offseason?" Also, I think the D'Backs can put together a better package than the Mets, and I think he'd rather play there.
  11. Maybe the Cards? Move Eckstein to 2B.
  12. Why'd they turn down the Jerry Springer Show? :?
  13. dusty would try to make him into a leadoff hitter b/c he has speed. Not if Furcal is signed. No, he'd stick Soriano in the 2 hole instead. Also, get him out of Ameriquest and I don't think he comes that close to 36 HR. I know his home/road split was awful this year, but this is a guy who hit 40 HR's as a Yankee. I am not saying the Cubs should trade for him, but I don't think it's fair to question his power. His defense, and inability to take a walk however is fair game. He hit 40 HR as a Yankee, but he has fallen off quite a bit since then. His SLG on the road in 04 was .444, and last season was .374. When a guy goes from hitting 40 HR to Neifi-like power numbers away from the best hitter's parks in the AL, you stay away.

  15. it's called overpaying based on save percentage rather than stuff. not a smart move if you want consistent numbers...especially from an important piece like your closer. even a good player is a bad deal based on the money and years you give them. Dempster could have gotten much more than a 3/15 on the open market. Watch the contracts a lot of relivers get that had much worse seasons than Dempster and you will see what I mean. i guess it's not bad if you rate a pitcher based on save percentage. look at the man's WHIP and K/BB, not his ERA. his success won't last. wait till next season and you will see what I mean. :( Are you looking at his numbers just as a reliever, or his end of season stats?
  16. I thought only Prior used Blanco last season, so that's 1/5. And I believe in the few innings that he threw to Barrett, he actually pitched better. Blanco's game calling skills didn't impress me at all and could have been the reason for Prior's struggles. Blanco called way to many fastballs and not enough breaking stuff when Prior was pitching.
  17. Actually he has, but lets not let the facts get in the way here. He really only has been catching for a few seasons, and when he caught for the Expos a few years ago, I believe they had one of best staffs in baseball. He had the best range factor among catchers last season, and was 4th in total chances. He did make some boneheaded plays, but aside from those, he really wasn't nearly as bad any many think. He has improved, and even when you factor in all his defensive problems, he's still a productive player. I can't really say the same about Patterson at this point.
  18. yes, leading the entire league in vorp at his position totally makes him overrated, right? funny. he Sox hes not clutch and he looks like the guy from green day trade him!!!!11
  19. Yah, but he isn't very good in either role. So this is just a waste of money.
  20. The had pretty good stats last year... .271/.340/.546 14 SB with 1 CS I hope the Cards resign him. Me too.
