  1. I just liked the "tips for the youngsters out there" :D
  2. I'm not sure it's quite that long, but that's probably Jeff Samardzija, the pitching prospect from ND. Part of me would like to see Woody with long hair...and as the closer...they could give him glasses with a skull and crossbones in the middle and play wild thing when he came in. I'd chuckle.
  3. by "his" do you mean Steve Stone? If I'm reading you right, it sounds like you're suggesting Stone may eventually join Kasper in the booth? I like BB, but that would be interesting, though many on here would be disappointed. I like Len and Bob a lot, but Stoney will always have a place in my heart...I grew up with him and Harry, I hate that he's not there anymore, and I really hate how he left.
  4. Its day 2 and still no Cubs Pictures...what gives? Are they all out working part time jobs to help pay for Marquis' salary?
  5. I was thinking more along the lines that all that was missing was a skull for him to be in a shakesperean play. Calling all photoshoppers? Or maybe shot of Jose Macias' head? with the quote, "Don't ever take sides against the family"
  6. God Hendry is looking older fast
  7. Yeah, i was just thinking that ist not even noon out there yet...that would be why the FLA teams are getting pictures out quicker.
  8. Thank you. And...btw...Brett Meyers has a nice car.
  9. I'm fiending...right now I'd settle for white sox pics...just want baseball
  10. A picture of Mark Prior, dated today, standing on a mound, with a baseball in his hand, would make my day. :D
  11. I have to say...that site has better graphics than ours...Tim should get to work on that. :D
  12. yeah...after reading the rotoworld review both of those guys are big 'eh' prospects...I sure hope Marquis turns out alright this year...otherwise we've spent 21 million on production that we easily could have replaced from within very cheaply...whats even worse...if our young guys could have produced just a bit on the major league level, they'd be great trade pieces later in the year... Was he on the 40 man?
  13. No..I don't have pictures yet, but I started this thread last year and it went over pretty well. This thread will be a place to post any and all pictures from spring training... Cubs and/or any other team. We won't have Glendon the Gut this year...I'm guessing Eyre will be the one to have added a few pounds...
  14. Psh. I'd trade Z to them for Tejada and Bedard. Bedard looks like he's got the goods, but he's not the centerpiece in a deal for Z. It may depend if the O's think they can compete or not so it's possible Tejada could be had for prospects and/or very good young players like Murton if they don't think they can now. I don't see them trading Bedard. I would be absolutely shocked if this were ever to happen...but if we'd somehow be able to grab Tejada (Say for Guzman and 2 other prospects) we'd have a pretty damn good team.
  15. Yet another guy I'm glad STL didn't pick up...Lord knows he'd turn into Catfish Hunter if he showed up here for the year.
  16. Heck...just putt him the 2 hole if Soriano is so set on leading off...hes still going to be on in front of Lee and Ramirez a ton and in those situations where Soriano gets on, he'll get him into scoring position for Lee and Ramirez a huge percentage of the time.
  17. Good for them...I was afraid STL would sign him and Dave Duncan would turn him into Cy Young.
  18. But his numbers from his age 31 and 32 season were down from his peak seasons, as expected. And they will probably continue to decline. Yeah..but not to many people in the history of baseball have had a .372/.414 season and then not "regressed" the next year...his numbers last year were up quite a bit from the year before...I'm not saying he won't lose a step sometime...but him losing 2 steps is better than the vast majority of MLB talent at his postion.
  19. Can I get the guy that Ichiro was? And then guarantee he won't regress as he plays into his mid-30's? His #s from last year don't show any regression from the prior year and he had the 2nd most steals he'd had since coming to MLB. I think the .372/.414 in 04 is really more than what can be expected by anyone on a regular basis, but his .320/.370 line seem to be right in line with what he's always done...If you could lock him up for 4 years...till aget 37 I think it'd be a safe deal.
  20. I sure hope you are right. Ichiro in the top 2 of this lineup makes us a very very dangerous team. Through 6 seasons he has a .331/.376/.438 line. Last year he was 45 of 47 on steal attempts. He is a legit gold glove player every year with a cannon arm, and he plays almost every game. Soriano Ichiro Lee Aramis Murton/Floyd Barrett DeRosa Izturis Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Prior/Miller, Marquis Wood, Dempster, Howry, Eyre, Ohman, Wuertz, Cotts Floyd/Murton, Ward, Blanco, Theriot, Cedeno That team would have the ability to win it all. If we could sign him to an extension I would give them Jones and let them have the pick of anyone in our system. 4 years ago Corey Patterson was just as "untouchable" as Pie is now...to get a guy like Ichiro to put at the top of the lineup I'd trade what Pie could be for what Ichiro IS.
  21. QFT. I'm just glad its getting some congressional attention...I honestly don't care what party or person is bringing it up.
  22. Whipped, allergic to superior technology, or both? Figures. This is spectacular news.....Kerry...you get this fixed and I'd consider supporting you for President....or better yet...get this fixed, and Don't run for president...let someone who can actually win have a chance. Excuse me, but Kerry actually won in 2004. He had the election stolen from him just like Gore before him. BTW He's already said he's not running anyway. I don't blame him after the injustice that was done to him, and all of america on that day. Slow down...I see I touched a nerve...i know he's not running and i did vote for him last time..lets just say I'm very happy he's rasing the issue and leave it at that.

  24. :pukel: :pukel: :pukel: :pukel: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:     Gee...this sounds familiar. Good thing i've always penciled this staff together w/o counting on him...man this is frustrating. I hope Carroll is wrong again. And I'm wondering...how can the be "going well" but Prior not be "throwing with confidence?"
