    I love that the Cubs are worried about having a leadoff hitter instead of just putting the best 8 players on the field. 100 years of misery, here we come.

    Not surprised in the least. Everyone expects them to bring up Murton, but of course they do the exact opposite and bring up another 2b.

    The real question is whether he will get playing time. I'm worried we're going to see DeRosa in LF with Fontenot at 2b so Lou can get another LH bat into the lineup.

    I can honestly say that there are probably some people here on NSBB that could put together better at-bats than Pie had tonight. That being said, he's proven himself at every level and deserves his chance. I think one of the biggest problems is that he's probably getting advice left and right and working on his swing constantly. Probably has too much in his head when he's at the plate, plus the added pressure knowing that Reed Johnson could take over his spot at any moment. I think Lou just needs to come out and say that Pie is the starter and that the Cubs are going to let him work out his problems in the 8th spot in the lineup. He'll still get some days off against lefties, but he's going to get the bulk of the playing time. That way some of the pressure is taken off of him. If he's still sucking come the trade deadline, then you look for a center fielder on the market.
