  1. That might be. By the way, I think Mark Kotsay has a $6.5M player option for 2006. There has been some speculation that he'd opt for free agency aftre the 2005 season in hopes of getting a 3 year $16-18M range deal. I believe that $6.5M figure may go up to $7.5M in the event he's traded. So if we were to trade for him would he become just a one year rental? Or would signing him to a 2 yr deal allow the Cubs to let Pie develop longer in the minors?
  2. Or, Gammons is full of beans. Either scenerio could work. well if the Cubs don't end up with Kotsay in a potential trade I'd say both will stink. <>
  3. Per Rotoworld: Peter Gammons told WEEI that he believes Jay Payton will be traded to Oakland, possibly for a reliever. The A's already have Bobby Kielty and Eric Byrnes to play against lefties, so Payton only makes sense for Oakland if Mark Kotsay is a goner. The Red Sox would probably be pretty happy with either Kiko Calero or Jairo Garcia in return for Payton. Garcia seems the more likely acquisition
  4. Is it possible Kotsay may be available? What about an outfield that would have Kotsay and Pie in it?
  5. what about padilla as well? I know he has been awful but he has shown signs in the past of being dominant. Maybe Rothschild can turn him around....sprinkle some of that magic powder Dusty carries around.
  6. I'm looking at Kenny Lofton's stats and trying to figure out how the guy is doing it. I would love to have a .400+ OBP in the leadoff spot. Anybody know his BABIP right now? I can't believe his still hitting as well as he is.
  7. The board is under a denial of service attack right now. The regular board has been temporarily disabled while I work on things. Premium members still have access. Just another reason to have Premium membership. Mmmmnhmmmm Fannnntastic.! Thanks for the hard work Tim!
  8. I just don't think the Reds would deal him in the division unless they are convinced that Mitre and Williams would make them competitive. Can you imagine selling that trade to the fans in Cincinatti? Trading your most valuable commodity to a divisional foe for two less-than-exciting pitchers and a middle reliever? That's part of what makes trading for Dunn so hard-we can't give them an impact "name". Are Reds fans enamored with Dunn as much as we are? Just curious because I totally see your point and agree but just curious as to how much of an uproar there would be.
  9. If we think of something better can we send it in or do we just get one chance to PM something to you? Not that I am going to send in 50 amendments but just wasn't sure. thanks
  10. Read today in the NY Post that the Cubs are thinking of acquiring Kotsay and moving Patterson to Left. http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/48921.htm
