  1. Burnett could have reached 80 pitches this inning if he didn't get a free strikeout.
  2. I lost a double or nothing bet with my Milwaukee friend on this series. Now I have to watch Paul Blart 1 and 2.
  3. It wouldn't have made a difference in the long run but that strike was 18-24 inches outside.
  4. I'm calling a Junior Lake home run in the 9th
  5. Didn't the Cards play a 12 inning game yesterday? Matt Holliday will be pitching the 7th at this rate.
  6. Russell might have been safe. But a rookie stealing 3rd isn't getting the benefit of the doubt.
  7. The May schedule is looking very manageable, especially once the Mets come back to Earth.
  8. We haven't even played the Brewers yet. This is glorious.
  9. *starts sobbing uncontrollably* WHY WOULD YOU SHOW US THIS!? Take a look at David's signature and turn those to tears of joy.
  10. Okay, I'll clarify my statement. If Russell pushes someone to 3rd and Bryant plays LF, then the Cubs will be in a great situation playing Coghlan at DH/4th outfielder. That's a borderline miracle compared to our lineup just a few years ago: David DeJesus, RF Darwin Barney, 2B Starlin Castro, SS Bryan LaHair, 1B Alfonso Soriano, LF Ian Stewart, RF Marlon Byrd, CF Geovany Soto, C Ryan Dempster, P
  11. Coghlan is a 2nd division starter and the Cubs are now a 1st division team. In glad he's around but happier he won't be getting a majority of the starts relatively soon.
  12. Games like this are ones we've been dreaming about. Youre not supposed to win these games when your ace gets knocked around. The bullpen has been stellar thus far.
  13. They might not need a 5th starter for a while and are trying to save his arm. I bet he's in the rotation by May. If not, I'd give up quite a bit for him. Actually, they announced he had been beaten out for the rotation by Jimenez. Ubaldo may not keep the job. If the presence of Dylan Bundy makes Gausman available then what does a reasonable package look like? C.J. Edwards, Underwood and Vogelbach?

  15. It's amazing that there are still 25th man options left at the #17 pick. In most systems that's automatic top 10 fodder. Szczur would be in the top 5 of at least three systems.
  16. Edit: nevermind, a superior version of my joke was already posted.
  17. You CJ advocates convinced me. I switched my vote from Torres to Edwards.
  18. It's madness that you offered three Cub prospects better than Carlos Correa and it isn't rampant homerism.
  19. Edwin Jackson rebounds to a 3.98 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Not great but a durable #5 starter.
  20. Joel Sherman: Wonder if that was a 3 or 4 year offer by the Cubs.
  21. Didn't the Mets defer Bobby Bonilla's contract so they could invest with Bernie Madoff? I heard Bonilla will receive over $1 million for eight years after Scherzer's contract ends.
