  1. Cross Moncada off the list for the bench. We must really think we have a shot at Bregman.
  2. I wish I could be a full time part timer!
  3. Is Bregman willing to pull a Kimbrall and sign mid season??? Is his camp hoping for a ST injury to pop up, causing a team to get desperate? This feels like a gross misread of the market by Boras (AGAIN) resulting in a substantial loss for his client. I mean, I get it...this is probably his last chance at securing a big contract and he wants to cash in. But lets be real here; Bregman is an aging player on the wrong side of 30 who's already shown signs of decline. He's a smallish player who generates most of his value from his power, and he's played his entire career in a matchbox of a ballpark. He's still a high quality add for the short term, but obviously, every team knows he's not a good bet long term. He should've taken the 6 year offer from Houston and avoided this headache.
  4. This is why the player's association will never agree to a free agency deadline.
  5. I think his "hell of a night" tweet was in reference to the NBA trade deadline approaching, not Bregman news
  6. If you don't get immediate MLB quality back, then you've essentially traded Belli, Nico and Isaac for Tucker and Bregman (both of whom may leave at the end of the year). It still makes us better for this season, but marginally, and potentially ruins us for 2026 and beyond
  7. I guess, pending what they could fetch in a Nico deal... King doesn't work because that'd require SD taking on more salary. Cease would work, but only save us a couple mil, and would Preller even take that deal? I doubt it. What other pitcher is out there, worth while, available, cheaper than Nico, with a club willing to take the larger salary in the swap?
  8. I'd rather give Shaw a few months in Iowa to make sure he's ready, then deal Nico closer to the deadline when Matt is breaking down the door. Shaw has minimal at bats above AA and It's crazy to me how so many are gung ho about rolling him out there on opening day. Before the Tucker deal, no one had him making the OD roster, but since we're all worried about blocking him. I don't get it.
  9. Pitching wasn't the problem last season. I get why ppl want to upgrade the rotation, we always want to upgrade there, but I'd rather upgrade the lineup, which was the achilles heel last season, and use our depth in the rotation, because we're richer there than most clubs.
  10. This. Plus, we only have Nico signed for 2 more years, and I doubt they resign him anyways.
  11. I feel like things are playing out really nicely for Jed right now to add several pieces relatively inexpensively. I can't help but wonder if we hadn't stupidly crept over the CBT last season, if we wouldn't be able to go over this yr and add Bregman, Cease and Robertson. One can dream.
  12. This. He only has short term offers for sure. If he had a 5 or 6 year offer he'd have signed it already. He'll end up signing a Belli type offer no doubt.
  13. Didn't we save the Astros more money than they gave us???
  14. If you don't guarantee closing role to Pressly, he won't waive his NTC to come here. Obviously, if he's terrible in the role through the first few months we'll have no choice but to pull him. But we'll have to give him the job out of ST.
  15. The Dodgers are the one team not waiting for the price tag to hopefully drop down. They realize they can scoop up anyone they want just by making them a fair offer. Everyone else is hoping by not offering, the player will be forced to accept less.
  16. Not a fan of the new alternates. If they wanted to add a lighter blue option, just go with the old pinstriped powder blue throw backs. Those were great.
  17. If we would have been the big fish, and signed Scott and also grabbed *Bergman, what would our predicted win total have been? *Trade Nico now, in season, or let Shaw develop in AAA a little longer and trade Nico in November.
  18. It's particularly awful right now because the division is there for the taking. Our chief rival is down and essentially out, so we're really only competing against a Brewers franchise that will never compete with the big boys financially. Be who we are, (the big market team in the division, and use your financial advantage, and we'd be prohibitive favorites in the Central. But instead TR insists on evening the playing field with our competition. It's pathetic.
  19. None of the news, quotes or rumors have us engaged with any starters, FA or trade. So I'm prepared to be underwhelmed there, if anything at all. I'm just hoping Jed does anything that moves the needle at all for the 2025 roster.
  20. I hope there's an ESPN or Netflix documentary on the 2016 team rise and fall one day. I want to hear the players honest feelings about ownership and management and there role in the steady demise of the org.
  21. No they don't. Ricketts seems just fine and dandy missing the playoffs every year.
  22. Beginning to be slim pickings in the SP market
  23. Sign Rizzo as a fall back option!
  24. They'll sweat each other out for a few days but come back together and get it done. It makes too much sense for both sides, and each wants to move on to more moves.
