  1. Has anyone else complained about the Dodgers deferring 8.5 million through 2039 on Hernandez? It's a 1 year deal
  2. Hey! We signed a guy! Let's go Shota
  3. I'm a little surprised Hoyer got Ross' blood on his hands for this offseason. We'll keep waiting, but feels like a weird move to try and wait and see yourself into the playoffs.
  4. This is fun. Right? We're all having fun?.
  5. Jed collects catchers the way Gruden collected QBs
  6. Hey, we got someone new for player development. Jason Kanzler from Houston. At least it's sort of an acquisition
  7. I like the Sale deal for the Braves. Not a move for where the Cubs are on the competitive curve, but it's a solid gamble for the price
  8. I don't think Jed is completely incompetent. I do think he's cheap, and would be the perfect gm for the Cardinals or Angels. The problem is he's wasting the advantages a franchise like the Cubs should have. He seems to be building a more sustainable farm system than Theo did, but his expenditures at the major league level are iffy at best. Being cheap last year is costing us over 10m this year on guys that aren't on the team
  9. Thank you for this Google search. I'm still laughing
  10. Not trading for Quintana would be helping the Cubs plenty right now
  11. I'm not the one making the argument that trading PCA helps the Cubs for years to come. TINSTAAPP
  12. And the young TOR could flame out or tear a UCL. It's not like getting a pitcher is any guarantee.
  13. Garver seems like he was in the sweet spot for a Cubs contract. Good for him and the Mariners
  14. If you ever get the chance, Bourbon 30 in Georgetown, KY is amazing. You get to build your own bottle with unlimited tastings. Bring a driver
  15. Michigan is the win for that. Dirt cheap and legal
  16. Might have calmed down his neurotics. Last I saw he was on Facebook begging for work for Christmas again
  17. I pass Trace regularly coming up from Knoxville and grab whatever I can. We're working the NE on a larger project we've booked, so I hit as many distilleries as I can. I haven't hit Eagle Rare in awhile though
  18. I have some EH Taylor and a fine edible, but I have to parent and Christmas spirit for a few hours still
  19. I was thinking more guaranteed contracts and where the players still make good money and have their health protected instead of the NFL where they're disposable unless they're a QB or a WR. However, the rest sucks, so something in between?
  20. My apologies. That was unfair to you. I just fired a guy that worked 3 days, bought 200 dollars worth of weed, and then cried he couldn't pay his rent, and stole 2000 dollars worth of equipment because all employers are rich and evil. I'm still a little bitter.
  21. The death of the RSN is about the only thing I can think of to resolve this. I couldn't care less how much players earn, and it matters little to me if they get more or less, but getting all the teams spending within 50-100 million of each other would be great. The NBA model is a solid way of how to do it.
  22. We get it. You hate people with money and success. It's literally the only thing you've posted about since I've been here.
  23. I've never understood this irrational need to view Jed as some helpless captive that would behave differently if he had different owners. Everything we've seen written and said indicates that he gets a budget and has zero oversight on how he spends it. His own quotes say that he dislikes long deals and prefers shorter deals even if they cost more. Nothing has stopped him from making aggressive trades, and we have nothing there. Jed is just an incredibly passive/cautious person. He's modeling the Cubs after the Guardians, but seems to forget he has a bigger budget
  24. So do you think we'll see more contracts similar to Ohtani, or do you think the union steps in? With RSN uncertainty, do you think they're comfortable with players pushing 70 to 80% of their comp into the future to give their team a competitive advantage?
  25. I cannot imagine Jed Hoyer spending 200 million to get Bellinger, but I may be surprised. Bellinger and Bieber get us back to even from last year if healthy and still productive despite Belli's exit velocity. Thinking Bieber is a lock for here after Glasnow feels like a setup for disappointment. I'd bet money on Hoskins/Belt, a Gio-type, and maybe a relief pitcher. Too many quotes this year about not blocking our future for me to expect more.
