We deserve better players. We are not the whitesox or the oakland As. We shouldn't just be competing. Cubs need to trounce and demolish their division. I'm worried the Reds will take the division if they get a couple significant starters while we end up with the Donaldsons, turners and meadows of the free agency allotment.

That's fair. I do believe bellinger ability probably made hoerner and swanson fielding numbers look better. Heck belli probably helped madrigal look better

Disagree. Harper signed for an extremely long time. He also has had injury history. Happ is playing for his next deal to come. Totally different circumstances.

haven't you noticed ballplayers have egos as well as multimillion dollar contracts. Those gold gloves will look good on his resume If Happ moves to 1B, he no longer lines up well with another huge payday. The days are long gone where players take one for the team.

Probably won't age well. Id be careful if cubs trade for him. Long term contract becomes very iffy IMO.

By keeping Morel and wicks cubs might be saving over 40 mil this season by not signing chapman and montgomery

You guys aren't old enough to remember bill madlock was an absolute butcher his first few years at thirdbase. But he became adequate later in his career. His bat was more than special. He lacked Morel power but was pure magician with his stroke.

You are right. I believe he always wanted the Dodgers. Toronto and Chicago were used to drive up the price. A lot of speculation ohtani camp leaked fake interest.
