  1. Our manager continued playing Wisdom over busch right til the bitter end. Managers should be able to tell when someone no longer has the ability.
  2. Counsell played wizzy every opportunity. Whythef did he continue playing that stonehanded k machine?
  3. Goldschmidt is truly an option at 1st and dh. He plays every freaking day. And counsell will be happy to oblige the grizzled vet
  4. Riz is good enough to play in the WORLD SERIES with 91wrc+ ?
  5. I appreciate your voice of reason. It usually keeps me from jumping off a cliff. You mentioned pederson, jed already did the Joc thing to no lasting positive results. Quite frankly I was quite happy we picked up the much ballyhoo Brice Ball in exchange. While looking at current pederson, I notice an ever expanding gut that doesn't usually age well while longterm $ are involved. I'll be happy to admit when I'm wrong, but I see a rizzo or a goldscmidt on the cubby 2025 roster. And it has to scare the living bejesus out of cubfans this offseason
  6. While taking significant roster space and valuable playing time, neither Hosmer nor Mancini had anything left in their sacks. Both were signed by jed iirc. It's jeds intelligent spending. Riz at $13m for 2025 costs half as much as a good player. It's the General Manager version of the Hail Mary. And after Sunday I learned to believe in Hail Mary full of Grace. Besides, jeds only other affordable power option is Goldschmidt.
  7. I'm crystal balling. By signing Riz, Busch becomes the Ben Zobrist of 2025
  8. My guess, jed signs rizzo to a 2 year ($13m per) deal to placate the fans for that feel good offseason moment. And then parade him around at cubbie-con as well as radio engagements and other public appearances joined by Clark- the-Cub mascot to bang the publicity drum. All the while, Jed will claim he got us that power hitter we've been lusting for. Gosh, I hope I'm wrong.
  9. I know this probably ain't the right thread, but the Dodgers won out big on that trade that brought back Edman/kopech. Very Thankful jed didn't go the vargas route instead of busch.
  10. Jed spent 14(over 2) on mancini, so I don't think he'd wince at 10 for a quality player. And if Cubs do their typical June swoon, he's flippable to an authentic contender.
  11. I wonder who would interest the Rays in a Lowe trade? Gotta be at least 2 kids, fer sure.
  12. Much appreciated your detailed explanation. Thanks
  13. How were we ever in on turner and ohtani if our owner isn't willing to spend stupid money?
  14. Just wondering if there was any confirmation as to which players jed was scouting in Japan during his last visit? Did reporters notice if jed took any staff with him or merely his wife? I mean, was it a full-fledged work trip or an in-season vaykay?
  15. Thanks, now all I can see is Soto dressed up like Kurt Russell
  16. I'm wondering if current kyle hendricks could put up the same quality numbers in Japan as sugano did this season?
  17. For all of us contemplating the Cubs having somewhere between $50-70million depending on belli, the Mets currently have roughly $195million coming off the books post W.S. After tasting the playoffs, they will be the other team not named the Yankees or dodgers to compete against for virtually every quality free agent jed may look into. This is a sobering thought.
  18. Sammy's pigment augmentation was a big fail
  19. I wonder if breaking bone(s) in his right hand affected his throwing delivery? Maybe I'm all wet? Dunno?
  20. I was all in on Fried until bertz raised the elbow thingy. Then I did a look back and saw fried had TJ 10 years ago. Uh-oh, what's the warranty timeline on TJ ? Spotrac has fried getting $23 million x 6. Is this a fair projection? If so, I don't see Jed reaching that far.
  21. 3 of the 4 remaining teams have payrolls over $300million. And we're worried belli opts in with his deal Spend money like a steinbrenner, Cohen or Walter's just once and let your 40 million dollar manager sort out the lineup
  22. We want facts dammit
  23. Perhaps Turner Broadcasting should stick to showing Shawshank Redemption
  24. Sorry thawv, I posted before I saw your post
  25. Bleacher report Kerry Miller Don't know if he's a credible
