  1. No way negative Nancy. Most likely scenario is Mets sweep and we lose to Braves.
  2. We aren't going to miss the playoffs. Boys are going to come out hot tonight and get the dub. Mets are already beating the Marlins mentally and are going to sweep the day. Boom, we are up 2 games by midnight tonight.
  3. I would be mildly interested in Tallion out of the bullpen in a short series. I wonder how high the velo would jump. 97-98?
  4. Yeah - I agree on the bad send. Normally with 2 outs, i would say go for it, but this pitcher was really struggling with command.
  5. As much doom and gloom that we see around here, I found this interesting. The Phillies got hot at the right time last year and made it to the world series. Right before their hot streak? 3-10 from September 15 - September 29 including getting swept by the Cubs. Finished the season on a 4-3 run to barely make the playoffs as WC3. I think we have to finish stronger than that to make the playoffs, but I'm just reminding the group that once you are in, anything can happen. I think we still have one more big push in us to make the playoffs. It starts today.
  6. I'm glad we are back out there for a day game today. Wipe off the sour taste from the last 2 nights and go get a Win. Hopefully that would put some pressure on Ari/Miami/Cin.
  7. We are getting a rally going here real soon… gotta believe it’s happening
  8. Pittsburg the only reason why we are still in it. Let's hope they keep up the generosity. Opponent Split W L RS RA W-L% PIT 9 1 74 27 90%
  9. What's next for Cade Horton?
  10. I probably wouldn’t. Really need him down the stretch and we aren’t winning a playoff spot today. We have a full bullpen today and tomorrow before an off day.
  11. It's going to be a roller coaster all the way to the end. Just 2 weeks ago, it looked like Arizona was dead and SF was going to run away with a WC spot. In the last 10, ARI is 8-2 and SF is 3-7. A lot is going to happen in this last month. I'm just happy that we are enjoying competitive baseball in August / September.
  12. I think we are in okay spot tonight. I think only Leiter and Fulmer are down. Wesneski threw 6 pitches last night; Palencia threw 7 pitches; Merryweather and Alzolay had the night off. Hopefully Smyly can give a solid 5-6 innings, but if not, I would still try to win this one. I think tomorrow is where we might see some guys get a rest with the early day game.
  13. It's a thumb guard. It helps dampen sting on poorly hit balls. It supposedly helps increase bat speed and power as well.
  14. I believe someone brought this up in the gameday thread and I feel like it would be a good discussion again today. How does our pitching look for the next 27 days? 13 games in 13 days, off day, followed by 14 games in 13 days. The good news is the double header is on Sept 1, I believe we get 29 players for that day. That's huge to save some of our bullpen. I don't see any immediate fixes in the rotation with Steele, Tallion, Hendricks, Assad, Smyly as the starting 5 and Wesneski piggy backing Smyly most likely. I could see toward the end of these long runs that if a game is getting out of hand, the starter is just going to have to wear one for the team. We really need Tallion and Hendricks to be good for this stretch. No sure the status of Stroman, but hopefully we can see him toward the end of September, but that's probably unlikely.
  15. Thanks for this data. I was originally pissed at the decision, especially with the immediate outcome. But I've reversed course since last night. The team wasn't doing anything and with one hit from Morel/Hoerner/Happ, we are winning the game. And with a Morel fly ball, we are tied. I think Ross was going for the Win right there and things didn't work out. We would all be screaming if Nick grounded into a double play, so at this point, I'm fine with the decision. If this were the 7th or 8th, I would disagree with the decision, but at this point, I think I'm okay with it in the 9th and against that pitcher.
  16. Kyle always seem to struggle in the first inning. Hopefully he starts off clean and rolls for 6-7 innings.
