  1. Doesn't seem likely that they would go after both Eflin and Jamo right?
  2. Anyone catch what Heyman said? Seeing on Twitter that he said Suzuki has been involved in trade talks. Hoping the context around what he said is along the lines of “teams have asked about his availability”. It was said on the B/R app, but I don’t have -
  3. Fully agree with the premise here. More or less talking out loud through the Astros farm and looking for need/readiness. Key word from my original post was "piece", so the hope would be we get more upside along with him (As pointed out, Astros don't have much, so they are a ****** trade partner to begin with). With that said, Whitcomb's line this year in AAA 20/63/78/24 .293/.381/.526 121 wRC+ 11.5%BB 19.9K% 407PA/91 games. He's been blocked by Pena/Bregman. It would be a Busch-lite level move to where you could start him day one and go from there.
  4. Thoughts on Shay Whitcomb as a piece of the return? His bad performance in AAA last season knocked him down all prospect lists, but seems to have made some adjustments with dropping his K% to 20%. Plays 3b/SS/2b. Has nothing left to prove at this point in AAA and is ready for his shot. Could stick him at 3b right away and let him finish out the season. There's a world where he's just a AAAA player or bench util guy with pop & speed. Not sure what to think on him, but have been following him for FBB purposes as Eric Cross and Chris Clegg seem to like his bat.
  5. Lance seems to really like his specs.
  6. Anxious to see the return on Randy
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/orioles-have-reportedly-shown-interest-in-jameson-taillon.html
  8. I'd love to "Win the offseason" (Like the Rangers a couple years ago, and Dodgers last year) but Jed himself said that's never their goal. I expect more of the same until he proves otherwise.
  9. That's fair if you don't have faith in Jed being able to upgrade - that doesn't mean there's not options/ways he could make it work.
  10. Yea and there's a chance he might not be posted. It was just three quick names. Fried's another option, but lower on the list. It's tough for us GM's on here to know who is truly going to be available or not this off-season. I would kick the tires on someone like Alcantara and see if the Marlins want to dump him after his TJ surgery. At least we'll know in the next 5 days what direction Jed decides to go.
  11. As he mentioned, we’ve been consistent trade partners over the last decade. Tauch would make sense there.
  12. 1296 PA's .247/.317/.372 94 wRC+ career slash line. Not really looking to add that to an offense that already struggles to score runs.
  13. I’ve been pushing the run environment aspect for a while now. It hurts us probably more than most teams with competitive aspirations with the lack of raw power throughout our lineup. My post really wasn’t that serious and more of a shot at our current vets and the need for them to be better offensively next season.
  14. (ALERT - meaningless small sample size) Amaya has a wRC+ of 273 over his last 9 games. The Cubs average runs per game during those 9 games - 2.67 runs. Moral of the story (Outside of being an irrelevant sample size), if Swanson, Nico, Morel, PCA and company doesn't hit (Or we at least don't get production out of their replacements next season), it doesn't matter what we do at catcher.
  15. Unfortunately that's who we are - a team built on the margins who is going to play close games. We need better players for more of the "easy" wins where the little things don't matter.
  16. And Seiya's 50/50 check swing goes against us....
  17. This game is just the Cubs season in a nutshell. Doesn't matter what we do, it's going to comeback to bite us. Steele doesn't get an obvious strike 3 call in the first > Tauch misses one in CF that PCA would've caught easily > Pitch count gets way up because of that flukey inning > soft contact leads to Steele being pulled in the 6th > Miller comes in > Brewers counter with Bauers (Soft base hit) and Turang (Crucial 50/50 check swing call goes against us) > Tie game.
  18. Steele waving off CC and yelling into his glove when CC comes out. Love the fire, hate the decision for my fantasy team as I needed the QS from him.
  19. We have to lead the league in warning track shots right????
  20. Home runs are cool. We should do that more often.
  21. 1st and 2nd, no outs > Sac Bunt > K > Popout.
